Ridgeway 85 ----Purdey? (Read 430 times)

I was just nosing around another forum which mentioned the Ridgeway 85 on 29/8/09 and noticed a familiar avatar and user name, a young Mr Purdey had commented on 20/1/09 @ RW:

I'm in.  Looking forward to it.

     Anyone else got any tips?

Tom, are you still doing this or was it aspirational?

I entered at the end of last year!  Paid up and everything!

I am now having serious doubts.  It is only 6/7 weeks before the 24hr race - not long enough to fully recover from a very, very tough 85 miler.  (Which I would probably blat out and try to win).  I now know how long it took for me to recover from 76 miles.  On a flat track.

I think that running this would seriously compromise my performance in October.

Place up for grabs if you want it!

And not one of them was prepared, truly prepared to believe that it had not so much to do with chemicals and zippy mental tricks as with that most unprofound and sometimes heart-rending process of removing, molecule by molecule, the very tough rubber that comprised the bottoms of his training shoes. The Trial of Miles; Miles of Trials

I am no way fit enough for that baby, London to Brighton is my target for September, thanks for the offer though maybe next year in prep for Hadrian's Wall [wanders off thinking about his pipe dream]
