No Faversham 2010 (Read 611 times)

It looks like Sid is having a break this year and not holding Faversham 6 hour Ultra, I have it on good authority that Pam et al are still working on him but it lloks like he has missed the boat this year

      I have unfinished business there.

      Maybe next year.

What was the secret, they wanted to know; in a thousand different ways they wanted to know The Secret. And not one of them was prepared, truly prepared to believe that it had not so much to do with chemicals and zippy mental tricks as with that most unprofound and sometimes heart-rending process of removing, molecule by molecule, the very tough rubber that comprised the bottoms of his training shoes. So have I, I hope to see Sid on Saturday and will interrogate him then

Sid has been interrogated and I have been informed that there was an issue with the Council (as usual) but it is now on.... but this will be the last year this epic race takes place.

          Date: 31st July 2010.

However, it is classified as as Faversham Marathon (40 laps +240 m)

Now be it that the course record is 3:05:00 I think you could take this little beauty in your site. I however will be further investigating and calling him to see if I can "run the marathon" but continue on for 6 hours until they start packing up.

The other thing I have to be very careful as I maybe going to Canada the next day so won't be very popular!!!

            Latest from Sid

Marathon but no Ultra, If any of you want an entry form I can send to you

            Hello to you all,

May I apologise to anyone who have tried to email or telephoned me over the past two months with no success to a reply.

I have taken a long time to make a decision as to whether I could proceed with the Faversham Events purely on a number of issues.

I am going ahead with the Faversham Marathon but not the 6-Hour Ultra, the Marathon will still be organised to a good standard as in the past years, but we will not be providing any Polo shirts and the goody bags will not be provided, you will receive a high quality trophy, none of these tinny old jobs you receive from other events.

I have to find finance from other sources because of the decline in sponsorship, with the help of the 100km Association and the 100 Marathon Club, I know we will provide you with a good event and a memorable day.

In the attached file you will find an entry form for the Faversham Marathon (Sat 31 July 2010) we have a limit of 50/60 so don't hang about as these places will soon go.

If you have a problem with the file then get back to me asap.

            Good running. Sid.

              Hmm.  I remember that hill....

On reflection I think that I probably could beat 3hrs at Faversham.  But I doubt that I would win it.  The cancellation of the 6hr will mean people like Alan Robb and Richard Quennell running the 26.2 instead.

It might take a 2:45 to win it this year.

Richard was very strong at Crawley coming second but I believe he was pulling off the gas a little as George Dayantis

was overtly strong from the start and surprised us all with his endurance at speed. Richard will be putting on his GBR shirt next month for his 24 hour run so may be out for a little blat in July.

Totally agree with the 2:45 time but as Sid has had his quibbles with the local Council (who are asking for extortionate amounts) he may be too late to get some of the faster bunnies in who may have found alternative runs

I know that Richard was holding back significantly - he has 4 weeks until the Worlds.

A great run from George.  Not sure why he surprised everyone though - a quality competitor.
