Has anyone else had a look at this event:

My dream is to do 100 miles, talk of doing Ireland in 2011 but boy how can I justify this to Mrs Jerry. My family roots are from Cornwall and my childhood was spent around some of these parts.
What are your thoughts? You thinking of doing it?

Sounds like someone needs to invade and conquer Devon.
Hand on heart I don't think I'll be ready for a 100 in 2010. I'd rather push my endurance further forward and then do a 100 in 2011.
My goal is a 100 miles in 24 hours. And that race in Devon ticks alot of boxes.
Blimming heck, we havn't even got the L2B out the way and you guys are eyeing up a 100miler!!!!!!!!!
So you will be using L2B as a mere training run then? Do you think the step up to a 100 from a 56 is
the same as the step up from a Mara to a 56? I assume huge weekly mileage required ie Purdey
amounts.
Massive mileage, if you can do it, will help but I'm not convinced it's absolutely necessary to complete a 100 mile run.
Here's a section from the training guide for the Western States 100, bear in mind that the event is at the end of June:
A typical training program for the months of April and May might look something like: Monday rest, or 45 minutes easy Tuesday 60 to 90 minutes Wednesday 2 to 3 hours Thursday rest, or 45 minutes easy Friday 60 to 90 minutes Saturday 5 to 6 hours Sunday 1 to 3 hours, slowly - even walking
........end......
I guess if you're a fast runner then following that program would result in big mileage. For me that would be in the region of 70-80 miles. But I would imagine if I tried that I'd get injured. I always do when I go over 60 miles a week.
You have just proved that you will be capable of 100 in 2010. And probably be, just about, ready for a sub 24 attempt.
As you say... that race in Devon ticks a lot of boxes.

Have emailed Pam for an application pack for Crawley 2010 but will probably opt for the marathon as I am seriously considering becoming a centurion in 2010 and Devon 100 may fit my bill, that or the South Downs 100....your thoughts?
