My digital scales purport to measure body fat - currently at 16% for me!!!

I'm doubting their accuracy a bit - this morning my body fat was 14.4%.  I know I haven't lost 1.6% body fat in 24hrs - does your level of hydration have an effect on how digital scales measure the body fat %?

BTW - the online calculator has me at 10.8%.  Beware - I suspect that it may tend to measure your % a bit low - I am certain that I don't have 10% BF.  This is probably especially true if you tend to have a slim waist for your build.

Nothing to say at the moment.

Hydration levels does effect the readout on those scales. It's measuring conductivity so the more water you have in you it will read higher.

I've got a set of those scales at home and I don't trust them at all. Mine reads 5% all the time ..... until the wife gets on. Smile

I thought as much!

I will try to rehydrate today and test again tomorrow.  Yesterday's reading may have been low due to 3 runs which probably left me a bit dry.

Nothing to say at the moment.

An experiment of one

I went to the gym the other month when I was using crutches and cycled for an hour and was absolutely dripping by the end. As an experiment I used one of the BMI/Fat % machines and it came up with some really off the scale values. I put it down to hydration levels.

I don't hold much credence to these machines but they are indicative
