Here's a belter of a challenge for the end of the year:

The Tour de Trigs Walking Competition (http://www.tourdetrigs.org.uk/)

It's described as "A 50 MILE HIKE IN 24 HOURS FOR TEAMS OF THREE".

It's a little different from the usual ultra events in that you don't get the route until 30 mins before you set off. You have to carry a bit of survival kit and do all your navigation by compass.

I've got a friend who has done it before and she reckons it's a really good event.

Thoughts?

This looks quite good, I am trying to get my head around why 24 hours for 50 miles but it is probably because the younger walkers may want to camp out.

I wonder what they will think about runners as we could easily run it in under 12 hours (easily ) and the thought of mullering the record and beating Army tends to make me want to do it....always like beating the Army in a challenge
