New PB for Park Run @ Bushy Park (Yes, I know it's only 5k) (Read 321 times)

    Hi Gents

Just thought I would share that I set a new PB for the Park Run @ Bushy Park on Saturday. I have been running one or two the last few weeks, generally pacing a friend who was trying to do a PB, which she did (my excellent pacing skills Wink). This weekend just gone I decided to go balls out for a time and was very happy to feel strong the whole way round with no real drop off on any of the 3miles. My previous best was 19:20 and I did 18:55, to go under 19mins was one of my goals for this year so very happy to go sub19 for the first time. And to take 25secs off my previous best time, which is a huge amount for a 5k, was quite surprising. Going to be very hard work from here on getting down towards 18:30, but that will just have to happen naturally as I am not going to be doing specific 5k training (yuck).

    Hope everyone is well.

On a seperate note, I am doing the NDW50 on 13th August, and none other than Ultrabobban is also running it, so am really looking forward to running with him on the trails. Happy times ahead.

Jeez, you are just going from strength to strength David!!!

I have yet to test myself on a 5km as my legs are always shot from all my long runs but by the look of my recent runs I reckon if I rested up for a week I could probably get a sub 21 minute but I am not sure I want to!

Well done on the PB. I did a PB at the DPR mile championships last week. I erred on the side of caution and didn't wear my new inov8 255 roadlites and was shocked when I clocked 5.54 for an undulating mile. I was aiming for 7s so I am kind of announcing that I am back. I ran the downland ultra 3 mins faster than last year although after the water only checkpoints, I ran out of sugar at 22 miles and a 13 mile recovery run on tuesday left me needing to take a couple of days off running.

I am looking forward to the NDW50, although am feeling underprepared. Dave, I won't run it with you as you are in the form of your life. I'll just bimble along and look to finish in under 10 hours.

Well done on your mile time, good base speed in the legs is a good sign. Not sure about the above, I am definitely not going to be
going off at stupid pace, and I wan't to run some of this with you (through choice), well at least the first mile or two (haha).  Feeling
really tired to-day, the weekends runs really wiped me out and have not felt this tired from training in ages, bit too many miles at pace
this week have taken there toll, and I should know better. Easy mileage week this week, with lots of the miles @ easy pace, hopefully
you are doing the saem, but won't be surprised if you are not.

I assume you (and Jezza) are still on for Friday afternoon/evening and a few beers/ciders?

I am still very up for Friday's little jaunt, I have been meaning to email you for the plans for the evening. I am hoping to take a half day so that I can get my work bag home and get my drinking shirt on.

Can you email with your plans of action, where to meet etc
