Anyone Racing? (Read 142 times)

Any races coming up for anyone soon?

I've got one on May 18th - only 26 days away (not that I'm counting or anything) and can hardly wait. I've been training for such a long time that its hard to believe that I'm only about 3 weeks away.

RACE CHARITIES
Anyone still checking this group out? Ran the Mad City marathon today. My first marathon. Last 3 miles were hell, I didn't stay hydrated enough through the Arboretum and paid the price. Hope to write up a full report in a few days!
I'm still here and congratulations on finishing the Mad City Marathon. I ran the race back in 2005 and really enjoyed it. The course was layed out well and there were tons of volunteers.

I ran the Green Bay Marathon last week and for me everything after mile 22 was no fun. I took things pretty easy for the first half then picked up the pace and started to run out of gas. I really wanted to walk a little, but I forced myself to keep moving.

Are you doing any more races this summer? I've signed up for the Lakefront Marathon, but don't have any other races in mind until then.

Congratulations again, running your first marathon is a great accomplishment.
Thanks!

I finally wrote up my report and put in the Racing forum:

Is that really your arm with the tattoo?
Yup, got it on Tues!
Wow that's pretty hard core. What hurt worse the race or the tat?

Good question. The tat hurt more physically, but the marathon hurt more mentally.

Congrats on your marathon! How's your recovery going? I ran a few miles on Saturday, it was difficult.
I was actually surprised by how good I felt after the marathon. My quads were extremely sore, but my knees and just about everything else was OK. The day after the race I stood at the top of the stairs and dreaded going down because my quads were that painful.

After taking two days off I was running again and the first run hurt, but I was better after a couple days. I've decided to run the Lakefront Marathon in October and will start training this week.

Are you planning any races?
I'm thinking about doing the North Face challenge half marathon in October, and I always do the Berbee Derby on Thanksgiving day. Otherwise I don't really have anything planned.
TK-Way to go on Mad City!! I think that with what you learned your first time around you are going to rock next time.

Well As for me I am coming up on Grandma's Half this weekend. And yet again my luck is taking affect. I ran the Full the last two years and the heat was awful!! Now I am signed up to run the full and it looks like it is going to be a perfect racing weekend. I will take it!!!

Hope everyone is doing great in their racing seasons

Good luck running the Grandma's this weekend. Please let us know how it went.

Currently I'm training for the Lakefront Marathon in October and I'm looking for something else to run before then.
Thanks Athletictrainer2, good luck on your race this weekend! Will be looking forward to hearing about it.

I just found out about a small race in Middleton on Sunday, I think I'm going to give the 10k a try. It's sponsored by Fleet Feet, and proceed benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

So how'd it go Trainer? I PR'd the 10k. It was a nice flat course and good weather. I took a week off after that, needed the break both physically and mentally.
