lakerunr glad to hear you are fine. It has been a messy winter this year. I am rotating three pairs of shoes this year to let the others dry.
I have fallen once this year as well. Wasn't from the ice or snow, but a shoelace. This is going to get cold later this week. So far the temps haven't caused me to miss any days of running |

| I hear you - I ran Sunday in the afternoon and it was only about 28 or so outside and deceptively slippery. Luckily for me I found out how icy it was on my driveway before I ran, so I was extra careful. I give you a lot of credit for doing a 15 mile long run, it was just cold out there. |

Wow, feared the worst from the thread title.
Glad to hear everyone's ok so far. I'm still TM'ing it. Not sure how much longer I can hold out, but I have a TV and a PC almost ready for the basement to hook up down there and provide some much needed entertainment.

I dropped to the pavement today as well! Running into work today, i was polite and ran around a guy and his dogs...coming back to the sidewalk, whoosh. Luckily not injured, just a scraped knee. Ironically I took the screws out of my shoes this morning because it was warmer.
I am praying i do not have an knee injury (not related to the slip). too close to my 50K, I do not want to be hurt, I hope a couple days off do the trick! |

I did it again! Fell last night.
I just had a 5-mile recovery run scheduled, planned to stay on sidewalks, which were mostly clear/dry, so I didn't use my NB921s with spikes. At 4.5 miles, I had to cross an intersection, stepped onto the street, which looked like packed snow, and WHOOSH, went down on my left side. It happened so fast I was still trying to run when I realized I was on the ground. Mostly fell on my hip and elbow, but my head hit also, and sort of "rang my bell". It took me awhile to get up, because my head was spinning, and I was laying on literal glass-surfaced ice. I had to scoot to the side gradually to find some packed snow to get up on.
I ran the rest of the way home, carefully. This AM, my hip is bruised and slightly swollen, the front of my shin bone right below the knee is tender, and the tendon behind the knee is sore. Could be worse, no broken bones, that I know of. I think I'll do my 10-miler tonight on the indoor track, or maybe skip it until tomorrow night.

Amen on running on indoor tracks, I don't think I could do long runs without them. I have completely lost all of my tolerance for cold weather and snow and am running almost exclusively on treadmills. I keep looking at the calendar and wondering why the winter seems to be getting worse as it gets later in the year.
Glad to hear that it was just a couple of bumps and bruises. |
