I think the weather is finally starting to kill me (Read 52 times)

I'm doing fairly long runs every other week (last Sunday was my last) and every other week the weather sucks. It may have been partly cloudy, but temps were only in the upper 30's on my two previous runs and I've gotten sick each time.

Overall I'm very healthy and I haven't so much as had a cold in a couple of years, but two long runs of 2 hours plus and I feel like hell. I hate to complain, but..........

Has anyone else had these issues?

I've noticed that while the temp is moving up, that wind sure has been bitey these past couple weekends ... felt more like November than April. I haven't felt terrible, but it's just kinda depressing.

I'm training for Madison (it's been going well) and this week is supposed to be some heavy miles. My problem is that for some reason, I just can't get motivated to lace 'em up and get out the door.

Works been tough, but that's usually a reason for me to want to get out ... instead I sit like a lump on the couch typing on my laptop stressing because I'm not getting in my miles.

Do you feel better the next day or ? Are you training for a Spring race somewhere?

I ran Madison a couple of years ago and I really enjoyed it. It was (and still is) my only marathon, but the course wasn't bad and they had water stops at just about every mile.

Motivation is becoming a bit of a problem for me as well. I'm doing Green Bay, which I think is the weekend before Madison, and I'm starting to hit the point where running isn't all that fun anymore. Yesterday I planned on doing a longer mid-week run, but completely ran out of gas at about 5 miles. My cold is getting better, but I'm still not 100%. A couple of sunny days in the mid-60's would cure everything.

I'm going to top out at about 50 miles next week and then it's going to be sweet taper!

Good luck in Madison. The nice part about the race is you have Memorial Day to recover.

I did GreenBay last year. Flat course with the thought of a lap around Lambeau at the end. Very well organized and ran. Have fun.
