A1C Results. (Read 734 times)

Grrrrrreat news! I got my A1C results from a few days ago. Got 5.0 this time and 4.9 three months ago. All without medication! I am so Happy I could eat a whole chocolate cake!
    WHO FARTLEK"D ?
Keep racking up the miles and you just might be able to! Well...maybe not all at once though.

Dave, Allright!! Keep it up! Mine hovers at 5.8, Would love to get to 5.0, but don't think I can without more meds. But, who knows, with running outside the greater intensity and duration, as I move up in milage over the next few weeks, anything could happen. Joe

Congratulations! That's awesome! I got mine down to 6.2 this time, from 7.0 for the last year or so. I wanted to have a party to celebrate Big grin I remember when I was first diagnosed I was glad to get it under 12 (I think my first ones were around 14). I guess that's different for type 1 and type 2 though, so you guys probably never even heard of numbers that high!
Big grinWAY to GO!!!! My last was 5.9 up from 5.5. Doc was happy but I wasn't! I am hoping all this running will bring up my good Cholestrol. My last test in May was 29 and Doc wants 60
To paraphrase an old poster: Today is the first day of the rest of your training. It doesn’t matter where you started or how far you’ve come. Today is the day.

Your training didn’t start 6 weeks ago. Your training started the last time you hit the road.

I think I just about managed to scrape in at under a 7.0 for the last couple of times by one or two points. Its does seem to be a bit random for me though as to if I'm getting a 'good' result on the A1C or not though. If I've spent the previous few months being a good boy and keeping my BG relatively well controled then I end up getting a higher number at the next test, but if i've just been just ignoreing trying to keep good control as much as possible some how the next visit to the hospital they seem quite pleased with my control. Confused

Awesome job ! Kee it up ! When I was diagnosed in May of this year mine was 9.4. One month later it was 7.2. On August 30th, it was 4.9 !!!! All our running is paying off !! Enjoy your day! Susan. aka Runner Girl
Good job everyone. To diabetics, our A1c scores are like SAT scores are to high school seniors!! I was DXed at 11.5 and have been keeping it below 5.8 first with lots of walking and a good diet, now with my continued walking with my wife my own running and of course my diet. I am finding however that the diet needs to be adjusted according to my level of exercise. When I was running nearly 30 miles a week I could eat like a normal person (or at least the way a normal person should eat). Now that I'm back down to my casual running again, I do need to be a bit more careful--well...a lot more careful. I did give in last night at my son's soccer game. When I passed the concession stand I couldn't resist a small bag of peanut M&M's right after a meal with quite a few carbs. I didn't have the courage to test. Instead just sat and shivered throught the game. Temp was 42! Maybe the shivering burned some sugar. (Where did all that hot weather we complained about in July go?) John

As goes our A1c so does our LDL and trigliceride numbers. Moral of the story, keep the sugar in check! J

Got my results back today and my A1C was 5.6. I have been running at 5.8-5.9. I was expecting higher numbers this time as my morning numbers have been up, as I have been eating some at night before bed, but I guess the running has been taking something off the rest of the day. He is not pleased with my Cholesterol Though LDL of 83 and HDL of 53, Last time it was LDL of 61 and HDL of 68. He wants me to take more Zocor, I said no.

If I may pry- why the no vote on upping the zocor? I have similar #'s my bad chol. and will be upping my lipitor after last race this november.

Joe, I was on 10 mg of Lipitor and my LDL was down in the 30s, and my muscles in the arms etc were sore all the time. I opted to go to the VA for the meds, but they didn't carry the lipitor so they changed me to Zocor. Zocor runs at about 1/2 strength of Lipitor, but the VA would only give me s script for 10mg of Zocor. They told me my LDL was low enough. Well my muscles stop hurting when the dose was lowered. Besides if I watch my diet I can keep the LDL below 70, this is what is recomended for diabetics.

Results from today: A1c 6.1 up 0.2 from the one 6 months ago Total Chorestrol 169 same as 6 months ago LDL 91 same as 6 months ago HDL 29 ALSO the same. Doc wants that to be 60 or so and exercise is the only real way to bring that up!! Maybe in May at my next blood work
