I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes 5 months ago. I had been a runner for about 7 months before, completing 6 5Ks and achieving 6 PRs in that time. The textbook diabetes symptoms came on like a freight train (A1c of 14), and I lost a lot of muscle mass as we tried to get my sugars under control. Glucovance has helped (although am sugars are still high). I was anxious to get back to running, as I set a goal to run a half in November. However, I can't seem to get my running mojo back. I have terrible muscle fatigue, and after repeating my 5K training schedule for the past 3 months, I'm still taking walk breaks every mile or so. I thought it might be low sugars (or high sugars over 250), but I test before and after and my sugars are in normal ranges. Has anyone else had trouble making a comeback after diagnosis? Any tips?
