Today in practice we did 7x800 at VO2 max pace. I ran the first one to fast and hit 2:46 then 2:59, 3:01, 2:59, 3:00, 3:03, but then on the last one my foot began to ache and I got 3:13. It felt like the crinks you get in your neck on my foot. It really started hurting on the 3rd one but increased until I had to slow down. I'm trying to be sub 5:40 by outdoor and am in 8th grade. Any advice?

Well, if it lasts more a few days then I say consult a doctor, Ive had this happen and it lasted for about three/four days but it progressively hurt less each day. My best guess to what it was is that I had strain or tweaked some of my foot muscle. Now if it doesn't get better it may be PF, which is bad. Talk to people on your team and your coach to be sure of everything.

Take a few days off. I ended up getting a stress fx on my foot a few weeks ago, because I ignored pain in my foot and ran on it for a couple of weeks with pain.

If it is persistent it might be the start of an injury, but sometimes things just hurt for no apparent reason. Like two weeks ago when I did my first run after my break. It was a very slow, very short run. The next day my achilles was so tight that i was walking funny. It was gone the next day.
