Intrepid Racers - Nov 23 & 24 (Read 15 times)

One of the neat things about RunningAHEAD is the mix of people in the community...there are serious runners of all styles -- road, trail, track; there are short distance specialist and 24-hour runners; there are folks training for Olympic qualifying, and others who are looking over the precipice of C25K with apprehension about how to get started. The community ebbs and flows through different topics, and there's a certain seasonality to the topics. Are you starting to feel stale with your running?  Consider finding a way to have a Second First Time for yourself....seek out someone who's just doing something for the first time -- a first race, a new race distance, a structured training run...and join them. Their excitement at the new experience will transfer to you through what's known as a mirror neuron experience. (aka it rubs off)

Our HMT 2013 race calendar is close to the end as we've arrived at the second half of November...the time of Turkey Trots and just on the cusp of Jingle Bell runs, but still lots of business to take care of before it all turns to fun runs.

Zelanie brings a full training cycle to the table is all business looking to crack the 1:55 mark and set a new PR. Go get 'em Zelanie....5 miles to open, then 5 miles of work, and 5K to the finish.  Good luck!

Here's hoping for following winds, fresh legs and great runs for all our racers.  Good luck!

Thanks, milktruck!  I'm really glad I gave myself the extra time to get ready rather than aiming for an October half.  I definitely needed the extra few weeks- let's hope it paid off!  Still feeling good.  Smile

I believe that hipfan is injured at the moment, so it might just be me this weekend.

Good luck Zelanie.  Have a great race!

          Have a great run, Zelanie!

That's the impressive way to do it...set the goal, power through the training and then execute on race day.  Nice job!

Hope you get to bask in the glow of that for a week or so, good stuff.

Thanks, MT, and I also appreciate you updating this thread. I have to tell you your comment about "5 miles of work" really helped when I felt my pace start to slip in the 9th mile. I reminded myself that this part was supposed to be work, and that's what gave me the motivation for the little surge to get me back on pace.
