Good morning! Almost 7:00 east coast time and I'm first? SRD for me and I'm going to take it. My legs feel good after the 20 yesterday and I thought about a short recovery run but opted for coffee on the couch instead.
This girl is on fire.
Good morning everyone!
Scott, You just barely beat me! Hope you're enjoying the couch time.
My legs feel okay but my hips are a little sore. I'm planning to do a recovery run with my club today. I hope someone who wants to run slow shows up.
I'm not planning to double today, so I'm going to get my afternoon back. But, I have work to do - a member of my staff is having his retirement party on Tuesday and as his supervisor, I have to give remarks. I don't think I've ever given a real speech before. And, I want it to be good since I'm kinda summarizing this person's career. No pressure.
And since I'm technically tapering, I need to start watching my weight since I'll be running less. So, I'm planning to make a trip to the grocery store and stock up on healthy, clean foods.

Julia; Have a good recovery run.
I'm planning just a 4 mile recovery run after coffee. I enjoyed being able to sleep in a little this morning. Legs feel pretty good.
Have a great Sunday, everyone!

Morning all. I have 3-4 miler today after my hubby gets back from the marathon. I don't know if I will ever come to the race or hotel again. We are near French Quarter and people were really rude and noisy between 12-2am. I did not sleep at all.

Bad Ass
Morning! I now know what happened yesterday. A fter spending 18 hours with a migraine, I now understand I ran the HM with the beginning of the migraine. No wonder I was puking, nauseous, and walking. Slept 11 hours and I feel much better today. 8 miles on schedule.
Runnrchic and Greg, good luck today!
Scott, enjoy your rest.
Julia, hope the hip feels better.
swift, enjoy your 4.
Jodi, good luck to your hubby! And have fun on your run!

Thanks... He finished in 2:49! Huge PR for him (6min).
My recovery run was a little fast. I forgot my Garmin at home but I actually kept with the fast crew for about a mile and I'm guessing they were not doing 9:00 pace. I slowed myself down and ran by myself for a while but had company on the turn-around. I finished wishing I had run further. I can tell it's going to be hard keeping myself disciplined during this taper.
JoJo, Congrats to DH! He must be so happy. Enjoy your run today.
D_R, Yeah, running with a migraine can't be fun. Hope you're feeling better in time for the 8.
Swift, Enjoy the recovery.
Scott, I took a picture of our hill leaving Rock Creek. It was scaring me early in the training but now I've decided it's not so bad:
Awesome!
should i be worried, it's been 2 hours since my husband finished, and have not heard anything. i don't know if i should be peeved. kids are getting antsy.
Docket: Glad you feel better
jojo: Big congrats to your hubby!
Julia: I was thinking the same thing in my recovery today.
Sat around drinking coffee for quite a while before finally heading out. I ended up doing 5.6 instead of 4, and I wanted to keep going--it is so nice out today. I am not usually one to ever have the problem of running too fast on recovery runs--typically my legs are so trashed on recovery days that it just doesn't happen. Today I really did have to work to rein them in. Noticed at a couple points in the run that I was inadvertently running at MP. Managed to dial it back, promising the legs some MP miles on Wednesday. I consider this a good sign, but I hope this feeling of bottled-up energy stays just at the right level to get successfully released in a solid effort 3 weeks from today. My longish MP run on Wed (not sure yet exactly how many MP miles I'll try to do) and my 10K next Sunday are the big key workouts planned for next week. Hope I don't screw up this taper somehow!
Pressing, I hope everything is alright and you've been reunited with your husband by now.
Swift, You're still a while out, so, I think you can still make small errors in pace like that. But, yeah, I think being able to dial into GMP that easily is definitely a good sign.
Hey all. 14.88 miles for me today with a 7:15 pace.
Scott...Nothing wrong with the occasional coffee and couch day! That was a great stat line for your DD's last game yesterday. You had a great run yesterday...keep that confidence up through taper and your should definitely have a great race.
Julia...All that pizza talk and I ended up ordering one myself last night. We only have two spots in town that are good, and both are good enough that they can afford to offer terrible service - very annoying. It is tough to stay disciplined during taper...but just keep reminding yourself that none of these runs will really make any difference in your marathon performance other than keeping you fresh and sharp. I don't mean to be mean, but where's the hill in that picture?
NotSwift...Glad you were feeling so good and fresh today. You've had some great training so I really hope you see the results you're looking for. It's a shame there's not more exact science about the taper so that we could all save ourselves some grief.
Jodi...Wow, your husband killed it! Good for him. Hopefully you'll reconnect soon.
Docket...Glad you're feeling better today! Enjoy the 8.
Jen...from yesterday...my slower run actually wasn't to run with the cute girl. Our paces are just way to different for me to comfortable run on the road with her, which is why it was nice for a change to do some miles on the trail. Great job with your run yesterday.
Pressing...Congrats to your little guy for his whale car award. Nice job on the speedy 5 too. That swim workout sounds awful. I'd have just sunk.
