Good luck CC and Docket!  I hope you two both have great races.

This is probably the last I'll check in until tomorrow evening, post race.  I'm heading out here in a few, after I get some breakfast.  I'm excited for the expo because I'm doing the bod-pod test to see what my body fat is.  After that it will be early dinner and off to bed for a 7am race.  Hopefully I'll have some exciting news to share when I get back.  Thanks for all the help and support along the way.  You all are some great training partners!

Good morning and good luck to Docket Rocket and Competitive Chik!  I hope you're both speedy this morning.

I'm planning to do 4 miles with some strides at some point today.  I haven't decided if I want to do it in the morning or evening.  And, I haven't thought about logistics at all.  I need to figure out what I'm wearing, how I'm getting to the race start, what I'm having for breakfast, etc.  And, I want to make a playlist, of course.  For now, it's coffee.

Marco, Sounds like a productive day.  Have a good run later.

              Swift, Enjoy the workouts!

SIAR, Have fun at the expo today!  Don't spend too much.  Wink

Run the mile you are in.

                      Bad Ass

Hi, guys.  5K went really great and I think the only thing stopping me from a PR was the ultra last week.  I wasn't shooting for a PR and raced by HR as usual but was surprised by the time I got (26:10).  Adjusted for weather, it looks really good.  Weights tonight.  I wrote an RR and it's on the B&B group or my blog, if interested.

CC, great job on your 10K!

marco, enjoy the dumping and running.

Julia, enjoy the run with strides.

Scheduled Rest Day.  Going out on boat, doing some fishing, then going to chill out at home the rest of the day.  DS had baseball today, but it's DH's last Saturday at home, and we just don't really want to be social.

P.S. CC can you please add me to the race calendar...

Hello All! Not posting a separate race report as to not bore everyone on the other boards

so I'll just say it here.

First race of the season done (well I guess I did do the Disney Princess in Feb but that's not in my

normal race season so not really counting it).

Our 8th consecutive time doing this 5 mile trail race. It is held in a local nature park on trail, in memory

of our friends son/nephew/ Grandson (we know the entire family) who died at age 12. It was one of his

favorite places to walk and run with his family (Aunt and Grampa have both run Boston multiple times

and were there this year at the high school in Hopkinton as volunteers). Proceeds go to fund athletics

for kids from low income families.

Last year my time for today's trail race was 48:38 but I was only back to running a few weeks after

major surgery in early Feb 2012. It was the only race distance of 2012 (only ran 5 miles the once) in which

I didn't have a distance PR so I was really hoping for a decent time this year as redemption. Also its a good

confidence booster 14 days before a full (#6) to run a good race of any distance.

Course, starts with one mile across a sandy beach road, then you climb 125 feet over a 500 foot distance

on loose gravel and sand. If you aren't sucking wind by the time you get to the top of that hill you aren't

working hard enough.Big grin Then if you aren't running up a hill you are going down a hill. Around in a big loop

and back to the 1 mile of sandy road to the finish.

Let's just say it's not the easier 5 mile race one will ever do. This is me from a few years ago in the bandana

and white shirt. Gives you an idea of the terrain, sand and loose gravel for most of the race.

Pretty pleased today.  Seeing as I'm 51 and slow and on my 8th year at this race  I course PR'd by almost

2 full minutes (previous course PR was 45:26 in 2010) and finished 3rd/32 my AG and  79/250 overall with

                            a time of 43:31.

My 5k split was 26:30 so I lost a little in the last 3k but the rolling hills in the4th mile before returning to

the beach for the last mile are pretty relentless.

Hubby ran a good race also, 37:25 , 4th in 40-49 AG (he is 49) and 15th overall.

Good start to the year for both of us.

Beth and Damaris--Glad you had fun at your races!

Went to the funeral and got the truck out of the shop.  It wasn't too painful.  Did 11 in the VFFs and my feet are screaming.  I think a soak in ice water might be in order before we go out for pizza and beer.

Seriously freaking out...  I'm a HUGE germ-a-phob.  Anyway, we went to soccer this morning.  Kid gets sick at soccer.  Come to find out at about 5:00 PM, that he has been puking all night, and they brought him to soccer!!! I know it's the last game of the season, but really?!?!  My son is immuno-compromised, my husband is leaving, and I don't know if I can take an illness going through the household right now.  Stupid dumb butts.
