Tough times never last, but tough people do. – Dr. Robert Schuller
Good morning everyone!
I'm hoping to get 4 miles and some strides in before my friend rolls into town for the big race tomorrow. Then, we're off to the expo where I'm hoping to buy more shoe charms and meet Jackdyl11! Then, maybe lunch with the running club - I need to think of ways to entertain my friend that doesn't involve walking around. Maybe a movie.
JoJo, That sounds like a good system. I would be a little peeved myself if it seemed like they thought I couldn't do it.
Um, hello? Anyone home?
I just ran 10.10. I was pretty achy, but nothing unexpected. I'm starting to feel better, but not there yet. Thanks for the feel better thoughts yesterday.
Julia...Hope you have a great time today, and say hit to Jack for me! ha. I can't wait for the RRs tomorrow.
PRs: Marathon (2:49xx; '13) Half (1:25xx; '12) 10k (37:25; '14) 5mi (29:23; '13) 5k (17:27; '14)
hoping to do 7-8 which only gives me 25 for the week. Usually at this stage I am at 40 and then, 20 the week before. Spent three hours in the hospital ER with DW in the middle of the night. She's fine now, but I slept until almost noon. Wind chill is in the teens and it is not going to get much better. Need to get out in the yard and clean up all the dog's presents from over the winter now that the snow is gone and rake the gravel that the snow plows left near the curb.
We have been finalizing plans for Boston...making reservations for the trip down and back...planning FEs with other runners...sightseeing, etc. Getting excited about it!
Julia--have a great time this weekend. I have run one 10 miler back in 1993 or 1994. My time was 89:something!
SAIR--great work on the 10...hope you continue to feel better
Race directing race #3 in the books-- 236 runners! With 4 competing races. Only one clerical error-- runner didn't give me any information, so he lost out on an age group award. Was a good sport about it, and we are sending him an award.
Half: 1:48 (March 3rd, 2013)
Full: 4:05:40 (March 17th, 2013)

Julia: Hope you had a good 4 with strides. And I hope you got to meet Jacdyl at the expo, too. Have a great race tomorrow!
SIAR: Good 10.10! Glad you are feeling better, hope you are 100% soon.
marco: I'm sorry about DW and the ER, glad she's better now. Hope you got your 7-8 in. The Boston plans sound fun!
jojo: Glad the race went well. Nice that you are sending the guy an award.
I ended up with 7 today, didn't get out until this afternoon. It was nice and sunny out, and the park was full of people and dogs. Ran very easy except for 3 half-mile pickups (with half mile easy in between) at 8:10ish or so, just to get used to a little faster turnover.
Here's a shot of some dogwoods from today's run:
PRs: 5K: 22:09, 10K:44:55, 15K: 1:10:35, HM: 1:42:49, M: 3:32:09
jodi--glad you had a successful turnout and things went well
nts--thanks and what a nice picture
no run today. the medicine to relieve pain caused some other problems and I just stayed home with DW because of stomach sickness. I did get a little yard work in while she was sleeping. There's a lot to clean up with two dogs now that the snow is gone. Maybe I can get out there on the road tomorrow morning.
Hi! Sorry for being late, but the internet has been in and out. Did 15 miles this morning in gorgeous weather. If not for the headwind all the way, I would've been faster.

Julia, hope the 4 with strides went well.
Jodi, awesome job with your race!
SIAR, nice 10!
marco, sorry to hear about DW. I'm glad she is better now.
swift, nice 7.
I'm supposed to be entertaining my friend but thought I'd check in real quick... The 4 miles went well. I always feel so flat after a rest day so didn't want to take today off.
The expo was great and I got to meet Jackdyl11 very quickly - he was busy. But, I can confirm he exists in real life.
I had a bit of panic as my friend was reading the race magazine and I thought I would be starting with the elite women 15 minutes before the race start. But after reading the official guide, I realized I'm starting after them. Phew!
SIAR, I hope you beat whatever is ailing you. Yeah, the first few runs might not feel so good.
Marco, I hope DW is fine now.
JoJo, Congratulations on putting that race to bed!
Swift, That's for the beautiful picture!
D_R, Grr! I hate when the internet goes out. I feel like the world grinds to a halt.
fake it till you make it
Good luck tomorrow Jack and Julia! Can't wait to hear race reports!
SIAR glad you are on the mend.
Marco I hope you and DW are better in time for Boston. I'm having dinner tomorrow night with past/present Boston-ing friends to talk race/logistics/plans/fun. We're in the single digits for countdown!
JoJo congrats on your RD gig done for another year! Hope you were able to raise lots of charity $.
Swift that photo is incredible! Its gray and dreary here, no buds on the trees yet even.
Docket Sounds like you had a great run!
I was supposed to go out for an easy 6 today but household and other duties got int he way and now its dark and rainy and well... I'm slacking on this taper! I've got 10 planned for tomorrow and think I'll try to either do some strides or pickups or a couple miles at GMP- something speedy so I can get home faster and read race reports!
