I haven't yet registered, but in perusing the lodging options I saw that rooms are already starting to sell out, so last night I booked a 2 queen bed room at the Comfort Inn downtown. Looks like it's about the closest hotel to the race finish. I chose a cheaper room without a view of the lake, since Lake MI is a BTDT kinda thing for me, LOL! And I figure the rooms not facing the waterfront might be quieter, too.
Total cost with tax is about $250 for 2 nights (Sat. & Sun.).

I've only lived in Milwaukee (or at least the area) my whole life and I didn't even know there was a Comfort Inn downtown. I looked up the address and it's on 916 East State Street, about a mile from where I used to work. I guess I'm not too aware of my surroundings.
I'll do a drive by and check the place out, but right downtown and should be in a pretty good area.
You've made your reservations, so the hard part is done, now all you have to do is run 40 miles a week for a couple months and then run 26.

Hey, if I can get in 30 miles/week this time of the year, then 40-50 by race day should be a breeze!

I really don't know how you can run outside. I'm a wimp and not only do I admit it, I'm proud of it. I spend more time now with the treadmill than I do with my wife. I can't imagine running on snow and ice all of the time.
Right now it's about 10 outside and the village where I live has almost run out of salt, so all the roads within 5 miles of my house are nothing but hard packed snow/ice. I'll be going to the health club tonight and pounding out 5 or so miles staring at a wall, but at least I'll be warm. |

That sounds EXACTLY like our weather. We've already had about a foot or more of snow this week, too. Gah.
But I think I would go rapidly insane on a TM. And we don't have room for one, so if I don't run outdoors I don't run. It's really not so bad once you get out there. The worst is the dreary, cloudy days and wind. The cold isn't actually so bad. Though the footing is pretty miserable of late. YakTrax really help on packed snow and ice, but on the loose stuff they don't help as much.
