This week is my first big step up for mileage and probably pain. I plan on hitting 40 miles for the first time in about a month and don't plan on falling below that mark until just before the race. Long run this week will be 13 miles and I'm planning on just over 40 for the week.

I think I may be a little, uhm.....crazy when it comes to my running plan. I have my entire schedule layed out throughout the rest of 2008. I think I may have an obsessive quality that may or may not be healty.

This will be a 40 mile week for me, too. I am looking at a 15 mile long run. Whoo...I've only done one other 40 mile week and that was back in April or very early May.

The weather doesn't help. I am really eager for cooler, less humid air--so are my lungs! Tongue

And I'm actually loving the heat. I was so depressed after the brutal winter and crap spring I'll take anything as long as its over 70.

40 per week. Big strides!!! I expect when you start hitting 40 consistently you'll feel a large change in your body composition/metabolism. Stay healthy and happy!

I keep hoping that's the case! I thought that would be true when I hit the 30s, too... Black eye

Yep. I think if I had started running in my mid-20s that the rules would apply better, too.

Oh, no...Missy, I'm sorry! I take it you've been running for a long while...? I always freak a little when I hear that experienced runners develop SFs. I like to think that after 2+ years of consistent and careful training that I'm out of the woods, so to speak, but I know that's not really true. I finally seem to be getting over random patella issues, so I hope the remainder of training is injury-free for me (*knocks on wood*).

How much longer do you have before you can run, again?

i've been running for about 8 years and lakefront would've been marathon #7 so i do have some experience under my belt. i'm also disappointed i developed a SF.. i drink 2-3 glasses of milk/day, take a multi-vitamin and get enough sun exposure so in theory, i was doing everything right Roll eyes

i'm taking it one day at a time and i actually started running this week again. its tough to look at my training schedule and see that i was supposed to be hitting 55 mpw this week.. i'll be lucky if i get in 15.

again, i know everything happens for a reason and i plan on coming back stronger and fitter than ever! lakefront will most likely be a training run for me but i'm looking forward to it Cool also, i live in the area so let me know if anyone has any lodging/other logistical ?s
