Missy, that really stinks! You have a great attitude about it, though.
I think we are staying at the Comfort Inn downtown--that's right near the finish, isn't it? I am trying to talk DH into taking the ferry across from Muskegon, MI (sitting in the car can mess with my knees). I grew up in WI, but now live near Muskegon. I had originally planned on Grand Rapids being my first marathon, but since DH will be out of town that weekend Milwaukee was a great second choice. My folks and siblings should be able to come cheer (parents are up in Door Co., sis in GB, brother and his GF in Chicago...I also have some extended family in the Milwaukee area), which wouldn't have been the case in GR. Though I'm not looking forward to being in a strange bed the night before such a big race.
How many miles had you originally planned to peak with? I'm doing 40 this week and hope for 1500 or so for the year. Someday I'd love to be able to claim 2k miles in a single year.

I'm sorry to hear that about your stress fracture Missy, hang in there and be patient. Good luck with your recovery.

i peak differently with different marathon goals.. its usually anywhere between 60-80. the original plan my coach had me on for lakefront peaked at 75.
kessler, thanks for the kind wishes. i'm slowly rehabbing.. up to 30mpw this week. i've been cross training like my life depends on it and i'm running a 1/2 mary on 8/10 in chicago so i'll have a better idea whether or not i'll actually race lakefront or use it as a training run. i'm already looking around at marathons in nov and december.. happy running to all!
