how is everyone doing? this forum has become sort of quiet so i thought i'd start a new thread. how are the injuries, long runs, shoes, nutrition, numbers, fiddle-faddles coming along?
me, i'm def not racing lakefront. my coach feels like i don't have enough base underneath me to really get in a good 2 cycles of serious training.. so i'm looking at the philly marathon now. i will be slated to run 23 miles the weekend of lakefront so i'll be out there running.. and hope to run into some of you!
whats going on with you?

Good things here!
Knees: holding up
Feet: feeling good
Head: still not feeling up to 26
Runs have been really good lately though I've had to drop a few of my normal shorter runs.
3 things I need to remember:
Be careful what you eat before running!
Don't start so darn fast!
Vaseline! (most important of the three)
Hope you are all doing well too!

Thanks to trying Superfeet insoles this week I think everything is going to go MUCH better in the coming weeks. Who knew that a little piece of molded plastic could do so much?!
My right knee is doing a LOT better just in the past few days.

I have a goal 5k next weekend. I'm really excited for it and hope to gauge the rest of the training on it.

How are your stress fractures feeling, otherwise? Philly sounds like the perfect alternative. AND the bulk of your training won't be in heat--whoo hoo!!!
Someday I want to do a marathon (well, assuming that I want to do more after this first one) somewhere a bit warmer around Thanksgiving. That would really make the the perfect training season here in the midwest.

, glad to hear that the body is holding up! i hear you on the eating. it has to be the right amount and the right type for me
kirsten
, i'm SOOO glad that you have found a solution to your knee issues. yay!!!
my stress fracture is healing and i'm happy to say i've been able to run pain-free. when i was diagnosed, i was reading all these horror stories of how it could potentially take MONTHS for these suckers to heal.. but i guess i'm one of the luckier ones
jeff
, a training cycle for me is 4 weeks. we're following daniels' plan with a step back week every 4th week. philly will be able to give me two full cycles followed by a taper.
good luck on your 5k next weekend. what sort of time goal do you have in mind?

the 5k will be a run through race. thinking I should be able to hit 5:10 miles. Philly sounds fun and flat. I was thinking of doing that one this yr as well if I stink it up in Milwaukee.

There is nothing like running pain-free after an injury to make you appreciate how much easier running is when it doesn't hurt. Kooky Claire had SFs that lingered for over a year. Eventually she got tired of waiting for them to heal fully and decided to get knocked-up.
