Hangin' with Hal!
Hey y'all,
Just saw the forecast for Sunday...60% chance of storms?!? After seeing the madness in Nashville this weekend with the Country Music Marathon, I'm just hoping they don't cut the race short like they did there. The marathoners were diverted at the 20-mile mark to finish with the half marathoners, so they only ended up with 20.6 miles. I had a couple of friends who were disappointed when they did that...after doing all the training just to get told they couldn't get to 26.2.
Rob,
I wouldn't worry too much about the rain at this point. I'm more concerned with 75 degree temperatures on Sunday. Way too warm to run an optimal time.
It actually lightly rained last year during most of the marathon, and I enjoyed it. As I'm sure is the case in Mississippi, they can't predict tomorrow's weather, so if this is the forecast on Friday for Sunday, I'll be more concerned.
Also, the t-storms tend to occur later in the day this time of year in PIttsburgh, so I'm guessing we may be done before there would be any problem anyway.
Just pray that the 75 degree prediction is way off....
Further weather updates...
High of 78 degrees with a chance of rain in the late afternoon. Good news is that the rain should not be an issue for the race. Bad News is that it is the hottest day on the extended forecast, and way too hot to run your optimal race.
Dear God, if I have any pull left with you, please get that temperature down at least 10 degrees.....20 would be preferable.
I look my best blurry!
Looks a little warm for the marathoners, much more tolerable for us halfers.
There are several members of my running club doing both the half & full. I'm working on getting a group photo at the expo or in front of the Hampton Inn shortly before 7am. If anyone is interested in meeting come on over it's half a block from the start.
Courage ! Do one brave thing today...then run like hell.
