sorry to hear some runs were cut short today.
I managed to run a 2:00:47 for the half. all things considered I guess i'm happy with the time and hope i didn't do anymore damage to the leg, but a little annoyed to sniff sub 2 and just barely miss it.
not sure what i appreciated more, the guy at mile 2 in Iroquois yelling 'come on, this is the easy hill. there's a harder one coming up', or the girl at about 4.5 miles yelling 'you're halfway there'. also, it's bad enough they call it the 'mini-marathon', but do they really need to label the full a 'maxi-marathon' at the split point?
meh
I want my medal, or my money back.

Good run, cbaker. Especially considering you weren't even sure you were running until very recently. Strings, sorry for your bad luck. Sounds like it was just as you feared earlier in the week.
Moving on, I think I will now start calling the regular, or "maxi" marathon, a Megathon. Wonder if I still have an account at Cafe Press....
As for the course changes, I thought they were a mixed bag. The less-crooked start and funneling into Iroquois was fine. Ditto the decision to run the full loop at Cherokee. And I even preferred this year's finish site.
But I was not a fan of the rather-lengthened foray into Indiana (no offense of course; I'm a Hoosier by birth ). But I always felt that segment was for novelty's sake: a river! a bridge! two states! Which I otherwise enjoy. But the new course has too many boring miles over there. Of course, my back was hurting over there as well, and I suppose that's my problem and not theirs.
Finally, as Skootr pointed out to me, it seemed an ill-made decision to have the Cherokee Triangle Art Fair at the same time, and then have the marathon--sorry, Megathon--block access to said fair.
And really finally, I kinda liked the poster / shirt design this year, an x-ray of a winged foot.

Hey Strings:
I'm running somewhere tomorrow. It's going to be beautiful. I can't wait.

Black technical shirts.
Oh well, KDF DNF isn't going to sway me from using the shirt [despite the screen print blob sweat pool in the front].
You ran the mega maxi marathon, I take it.
