River City Runners of Louisville

I saw someone much faster than me today. (Read 176 times)

As I exited Iroquois Park today, I saw an elite-looking runner headed into the park effortlessly jogging what appeared to be much faster than my 5k pace.

As I crossed the street between Central Avenue and the viaduct next to UofL, he blazed past me.

Given that the loop + entrance/exit is about 3.5 miles, and the distance that I had covered was about 3+ miles, and that I had averaged 9'17" over that stretch--holy crap.

      My ears are burning!

MTA: Actually, I think I've seen that selfsame runner on that very stretch before.  I remember thinking, it's not just that I'm not a fast runner...I don't even know how to properly run. Humbling, but fun.

“I used to be a runner. Uh-huh. Not a marathoner. A runner. Marathons are bullshit. They’re all hype. Some official picks a random day, and rain or cold, you’re out there pounding the pavement alongside 50,000 other dumbfucks. No. There’s some things it’s better to do all by yourself.” Augustus Hill, Oz
I don't even have the proper genes to run with that form at *my* pace.
