(I was getting tired of the buzzing/beeping telling me that I was going too slowly.)

Hate it when that happens, but a couple of weeks ago the beeper on my Garmin broke.  Now it doesn't beep at all.  Problem solved!

Just got back from the specialist, and I got really hopeful news. Turns out I did not tear the ACL. The doctor said I got a 3rd degree case of april fools! Apparently, it only takes 24 hours to recover.

More personals later.  i did 5 miles at a recovery ish pace today (did not wear a watch).  Slow miles are better than no miles.  Now I'm at work wishing I was in bed because my nose hurts.

akalei - I really enjoyed my marathon break this spring, but most would say i did not take a break.SmileHansons talk about youshould only do 3 marathons every 2yrs anyway so your training don't get stale.

As far as RnR Philly goes all i hear it is really flat which is music to my ears with all the hilly races i run.Smile

Jedi: I'm thinking of hopping on board for the Philly half... I keep hearing great things about the entire event!

          cbus - not kool dude!

indi - good luck this weekened

Afternoon Donuts!  I had another rough night last night, just coughing and coughing...still couldn't sleep after 2 doses of Nyquil (spaced about 3-4 hours apart) and some wine for good measure!  But, I was determined to do a run of some sort today.  I was supposed to have 3 x 2miles @ 7:50/mile, but for once, I used a bit of common sense and just ran easy.  I ended up doing 10 miles @ 9:29/mile, and the run just felt great the entire time...like I could have run forever!  I really wish I hadn't been sick, because I think I could have rocked my strength run.  Oh well, as it is, it was an enjoyable run with pretty good weather.  Of course, now, my lungs are on fire from running in the cold and I am coughing like crazy....ugh!

CBus:  Mean, I tell you, just mean!

Onemile:  Your mileage is awesome and I really think you are going to rock Carmel!

MDawg:  Nice 7+....you have more patience than I do on that damn TM!

Akalei:  I hope you enjoy the run with your pup!  DH and I are going to squeeze in a round of Insanity in May and June, before marathon training starts July 1!  Hoping to do Insanity at least 3-4x/week and still get in 45-50 easy miles, but it may be tough time-wise.

Sprinkles:  Glad you got a few miles in and I really hope we both feel better!  I was sent home from work yesterday around 10:30 and didn't work today either.

Docket:  Nice recovery run and weights yesterday!

Indy:  Good luck with the race...I think  you are going to smash it!

Roll:  That's hilarious with the shallots....cruel, but hilarious!

Simon:  I hope April is better for you!

Banshee:  Nice to see you back at it!

Jedi:  Nice running...58 miles!  I know DH and I are going to use a Hanson plan for the fall, but I am unsure which one.  I have to be honest that I do not think we have the time to get much higher than 60-65 miles/week.  I just work too many hours and our kids have too much going on.  I don't want to commit to a plan and then be unable to execute, ya know?  So, probably either just Hanson's beginner or advanced from the book...I haven't looked that closely at the mileage.

RV:  Sorry about the funk...we all get that way sometimes.  I hope your workout goes well this afternoon!

Cbus I think we are collectively going to have to ban you from posting on April 1st, permanently!

                  Certainly had us going.

I tend to be pretty unscientific about things like cadence. If I am supposed to run 800m in 3:30 then that's what I try to do. I might also try to remember to keep my elbows in and make sure my form is good. If I am not quite on the correct time for the first one then I adjust my pace, but not cadence. I never listen to music on tempo runs or during intervals, just on slow or long runs.

I do respect those who take more care of details but it does not seem to be part of my mental makeup.

                  Jedi that's really moving!

I  have been in groups before that informally use the first few posts of a new month to recap the previous month, miles versus goals, race results if any, that sort of thing. This means you don't need to look at all the logs individually, I don't know if you guys have any interest in this idea.

                  PBs since age 60:  5k- 24:36, 10k - 47:17. Half Marathon- 1:42:41.

                                                      10 miles (unofficial) 1:16:44.

I find that a faster cadence and a shorter stride takes less energy.  I had initially been playing with electro music from PodRunner.com at various cadences and found that the faster I wanted to run the higher the cadence that felt comfortable.  For 5k/10k speed I use 182 (91 strides).  As my 5k pace kept getting faster I gradually increased the cadence.  I'll probably have to bump the cadence again shortly.  And listening to music with that same beat count means that I'm running evenly which also helps.

                    Docket_Rocket

I am very weird.  My cadence is at 89-90 (178-180)no matter the speed I run.  Outside.  Not sure what mine is on the TM because I never use one (But I want to find out).

Ooh, I want in on that....after all, we are PR twins, right?   I have been thinking of signing up for a 5K the 13th, but it's at a city park in Indianapolis, so I am I unsure if it's hilly, or flat, or what!

Akalei & Jedi- Rock N Roll Philly? I was actually just looking at that today before I came over here and just saw now that you were both mentioning it- I am considering it- I ran that part of the course during the marathon and it is not very challenging- there are some minor elevation changes, but nothing like the Manayunk hills, which this course appears to be avoiding for the most part.

Come on sis! I am shooting for a sub 22. Puke or not, sub 22. Looking at your intervals on 3/6/13, you've got this.

All right....I'm in!!  We found one the 13th near Indy (we are going there for the weekend), that says its flat and fast!  Plus, if you catch "Scuffy," you get a prize...it says first 20-25 runners will catch him!
