This is such a great idea Eric. Hello everyone. I haven't been running because I'm suffering from a foot injury. I'm hoping to still make Boston. I've been injured for over 2 weeks now. I've been doing a lot of pool running!

Hi Julie! I was wondering why you hadn't been at track or on our Sat runs recently. I am out myself with a foot injury for two more weeks. Of course, I'm not marathon training so it's not a big deal for me.

I have been pretty lazy with the cardio stuff lately -- 20 min on the stationary bike, 5K row, but nothing longer. I am going to be one hurting person when I am able to run again!

Good luck with the pool running - I did that a few years back and it was actually a lot of fun.

Hey Linda! Nice squat picture. Nice low bar position! That's what I'm relegated to these days. Haven't run since 1/29. Just lifing weights and light cycling. See the ortho Thursday. Tried a light jog on the TM last week and it's definiely not ready to be run on. Shin and ankle are real sensitive. Missed the New Bedford HM and withdrew from Vermont. Hope to get some answers soon. Saw Ram at S&S Sunday morning. I'll still be volunteering at the marathon expo. maybe I'll see you there.

Hi Julie!
Sorry to hear about your foot injury! What is it? Was it caused by too much running? Some of us have more of that problem than others.

Linda: you have a foot injury too? It sounds infectious or something. Hope you'll be out on the road again soon.

Hi Everyone!

Julie hope you're feeling better soon. I'm not running Boston, but I've been out injured for over a month now!

I got the go ahead to run a whole 1/4 of a mile next Monday! Can you believe it, a 1/4 of a mile???

Eric, great job getting this setup!

You should bank that quarter mile along with dozens of others so you can run them all at once Big grin

And I think you were first, does that make you Typhoid Eric? This forum had one post in 2006, one in 2007, and one in 2008. I figured I would make the one post for 2009, and the forum becomes undead like a zombie. What have I done?

Ed, somehow you succeeded in getting us rolling again, let's hope the activity continues!

Geroge: Shawn told me that you were injured but that was a while ago so i'm surprised to hear you're still down for the count. That stinks as I know you were looking forward to Vermont. Let us know how the ortho appt goes. I remember that you had shin issues this past summer too.... I am just thrilled that I found another exercise passion (Crossfit) that I can focus on. I have some goals around the lifts that I can focus on now Big grin

Bob: Ugh, I can't believe you've also been out that long! What's become of all of us? Good luck with that 400M, make it last brother!!

In conclusion, I blame Eric for everything.

I hear you on the lifting thing. After all this time off from running, I've added lots of pounds to squats, deadlifts and other lifts and love it. I can't be fast so I'll try to be HUGE Roll eyes. Maybe not a bad idea since I'm the father of 3 girls. But at least something is progressing. At the ortho today, i found out I have an old injury in my left leg that is healed. There's some new bone growth there. Must've healed up from an earlier stress fracture with the time off I took last year. Now I have an MRI on Monday to see if I now have a stress fracture on my right side. He said no running until he can rub his thumbs on my shins without pain. And when I can run again, I'm headed for custom orthotics. Like the shoes themselves aren't expensive enough. Time to take up swimming. Oh well, back in the squat rack tomorrow morning. Smile

George (or is it Earl?)

Good luck with the MRI. I am also the proud owner of a set of orthotics. The first pair I promptly lost at the gym within a month. They were ridiculously expensive ($400 I think) and not covered by insurance. Getting them replaced completely sucked.

My podiatrist is a good guy, but he called me a "jogger" during my first appt. WTF did I do to deserve that? He's supposed to specialize in sports related podiatry - he should know better. He came up with the goods though (cortisone) so I forgave him.

Don't forget to even out those heavy squats with some bicep curls and shoulder shrugs Big grin Beach muscles are important.

Both. But I only answer to George or Hey You.

I'll do my best to not lose them. What would someone do with someone else's orthotics? NOPCO in Burlington was the rec from the ortho. $300 so not quite as bad.

You've seen my complexion. The beach is not in my thinking. I heard a guy at the gym say that curls get the girls. I thought of something that rhymes with "squat" and then though better of it. Evil grin
