The LJRWS is this Sunday. I swimming in the Gatorman event (3 Miles). There is supposed to be a little surf and swell. That should make it interesting currents and all. I don't expect a to place but the challenge will be exciting.

Thanks everyone. I'll share a race report after. Today I am enjoying a taper day on rest, food, and familiy.

The race went well. Challenging conditions: 3-8 foot surf, choppy, cross swells from sw & nw. I felt tired before the event and decided to pace myself a bit. By the time I was nearing the end I realized I had more left in me. Oh well, I made the recovery easy. 1:25:17 was my time.

It was well organized and run as usual. The lifeguards did an expectional job keeping people safe and on course with the surf, reef, rocks and currents (they rescued many).

Wow, I can't imagine trying to swim in 8 foot waves...   I guess you swim through them?

Congrats on safely getting through what sounds like a rough race.  Was it enough fun that you'd do it again?

Great Swim!! 3 Miles in that rough water must be tough! Nice Job.

Thanks folks. I was hoping for better footage, but here are some video clips from youtube. They don't do the conditions justice.
