Good luck with the home hunting, Amy.
K, our youth pastor's husband went to school in or around LA and actually had a college class where they trained for and ran the LA Marathon for college credits. Only in California.

Hey, GVSU has a wine-tasting class...no joke! It's actually supposed to be a REALLY good class. I think it's only 1 or 2 credits. If gas prices weren't so crazy I'd love to take that.

RIT had a really good hospitality management degree - I got to take beers of the world and wines of the world before I graduated. Never managed to fit foods of the world into the schedule though. (All 3 classes were hard to get into.)

I'm starting to realize that the curriculum offered by my college left much to be desired.

Here, here, Amy! Michigan State is a well-known agricultural school so, I guess I could have taken a class like, discerning cow udders or the pecking order of chickens or sumptin'?

I did take a "Cultural Guide to L.A." class in college. It was most definitely fluff. The whole concept of culture in a city where pretty much anything built before 1980 is given historical landmark status is hilarious to me.
As I remember, we had one session dedicated to roadside architecture. Stuff like this:

Ugh. Oh, well. Hate the sin, not the sinner, right?
USC's been on my not-favorite list ever since we lost to y'all in the 1990 Rose Bowl my freshman year. Fortunately, we managed to avenge that loss in the 2004 and 2007 Rose Bowls when we...oh, wait. Crap. Umm, he's got huge, sharp-- eh-- he can leap about-- look at the bones!

If it makes you feel any better, I always root for Michigan when they play Notre Dame.

Well, that's very kind. Unfortunately, I think the fact that I usually root for ND over USC nullifies it.
MTA: Though that's not an anti-USC thing. With that whole B(C)S thing, you want your opponents to do well -- it boosts your strength of schedule. So it's purely a self-serving thing to want ND to do well (other than when we play them).
Now that I think about it, I dislike ND much more than I do USC. So there's that.

USC's band director Art Bartner is a Michigan grad.

And he's the reason the band is awesome.
