Interesting question. Once upon a time, A1 and I ran an ultra together. If that ultra were 2 miles longer, I would possibly have passed him. But that was long ago and A1 is now in crazy shape and I am, well, not.

The race is long enough that the oppopsite could happen depending on who is having a good day or bad day. I will not be racing 26.2 miles in the heat with every thing I have the saturday before Umstead though.

I just noticed that ZG is a point-to-point with a "we don't give you a ride" policy. As I don't feel like doing an accidental hundred (much less an intentional one) and don't much like feel like bribing a crew, ZG is off my list. Now to look at OP50.

Nothing against the race, which I've heard is wonderful... and I've run the area a couple times. Nice.
I just can't count to 100 and have no desire to count that high.
At Umstead, you only have to count to 8.
