Marathon des Sables (with pictures to warm you) (Read 60 times)

Uh oh... now what?

The perversity that allows something like the Marathon des Sables to pull at the heart...

A U.S. woman (Meghan Hicks) is the women's leader after four stages.

I want to do it because I want to do it.  -Amelia Earhart

          From MDS website:

Meghan, who also benefited from the retirement of the French runner Laurence Klein (double titleholder and winner of the first three legs) on the long leg, gave herself every chance of securing the trophy. “For the past six months, I’ve been running everyday in the desert where I live in Utah. I also arrived in Morocco two weeks earlier to properly acclimatise. Since 2009, I’d been hungry for this victory. I wanted this win.

          2013 H1:  7 hours/week base.  Q3: Train for goal race.  Q4:  Goal Race.
