About 2-3 months ago I asked for your advice on supporting a run of 100kms, and how my son and his friend should train for this effort. The attempt is going ahead this Saturday, May 8th., starting in Shanty Bay, north of Barrie, Ontario, and with a lot of persistance and effort should end up at the Toronto Star building at the foot of Yonge Street in Toronto about 12 hours later.
Thanks to all who offered encouragement and advice.
I have posted under the heading `Running for Zimbabwe`in the general running forum a brief note about the run, with a link to a Facebook group formed to explain the purpose.
PBs since age 60: 5k- 24:36, 10k - 47:17. Half Marathon- 1:42:41.

My son made it to the finish though he was very tight and sore at theend, and taking very short strides.
A very gruelling effort, but a great feeling of accomplishment!
His friend had a leg injury at about 60kms and struggled on for 10 more miles, but dropped out at 77kms or 48 miles.
Two very tough and determined young men!
