DB - I know very few people who would have even turned up after the setbacks you faced. It was a pleasure to meet you and your delightful wife. I'm only sorry that Mrs Purdey couldn't get out there: she and Jill would have got on very well!

When you stand at the starting line of a 100 mile race the finish is so far away that everything is in doubt. So many bad things can happen in spite of all of our preparations and training.

What's the elevation change over those inches? Cause people talk about it like it is some sort of difficult ordeal.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.
