Who's up for a trip to Texas? (Read 265 times)

bhearn

    I understand. We'll miss you.

Of all the buckles, Rocky's is perhaps my favorite.  But then I grew up in Texas.

Let's hope they have enough this year -- last year as I recall, they didn't have one for Matt.

Rocky has a different buckle for sub24.  They misplaced the box of sub24s... and Matt got hosed (after DNFing, I think Jess helped hand out buckles). People who finished after the witching hour got buckles though.

I hope they sent it to him... Joe is really good about stuff like that.

      You'll ruin your knees!

...and he doesn't seem to keep a waiting list.

Kept one this year for sure, cleared most of it and re-opened registration.  As for the buckles last year, if Joe is aware of someone being short, he will definitely make good on it.  If Matt still has not had one, please pm me or have him reach out to Joe... he will make it right!

MTA: considering wearing a sequined thong (under my Carhartt's, of course) in honor of bhearn's trip to Huntsville!

Haha. Careful, we may make you prove it.

Well, the buckle person in question (Matt) is Weegee in these parts.  Maybe we can cause him to apparate by saying his name three times.

            Or bugging Betsy.

Oh.... Weegee Weegee Weegee, didst thou get thine buckle?

He most certainly got his buckle!  (It came in the mail a few weeks later).  He wears it proudly Smile

I just pulled the plug on my trip to Huntsville.  Unfortunately some personal issues cannot be resolved to give me the flexibility to spend the weekend at DamNation...  Good luck to all of you going down to race/crew!  Looks like the trails are in great shape and the weather projections are looking like it may be a great weekend!  Have fun!

As my better, cuter, smarter, and more attentive half said, yes.  Joe mailed it to me and I agree with your assertion that it's one of the classiest ones around – especially the sub-24 one (which has a hint of color).  It's my "dress buckle" for fancy events.

And we're going to miss you, your pony, and Jlynnbob down there.  I'll do my best to post some updates on these yahoos as I sit around the campfire at Dogwood drinking mint juleps.

Nice work in getting it done!  Hoping you have fond memories of DamNation!

HA!  One of the volunteers at DamNation did a time release photo thing here... perhaps you can get an idea for the pace of the race from the backwoods!

I sure as hell do!  I had to take a 10-minute cat nap during my 5th loop just to keep going.  Totally rejuvenated me!

                        Uh oh... now what?

That time-lapse thing is great--thank you Lynn.

Time-lapse was awesome, Lynn... And I'm sure I was in there somewhere. I paced my wife through the last loop en route to her 23:28 finish. It was cool... she was moving really well at the end, passing a bunch of folks, running just about every step. Pretty cool to get to experience.

True story: As I was sitting at Nature Center waiting for my wife to come through on her 4th loop, I hear a couple of guys in front of me talking about the Damnation aid station. "This guy, Lynn, is in charge of it, and he's just awesome." They went on for a few more minutes singing your praises. I didn't have the heart to tell them you weren't going to be there when they paced their runners through.

                            You'll ruin your knees!

Congrats to your wife, sounds like she had a great race!  My race strategy has always involved stealing energy from every runner I pass in the last 20 miles!

I absolutely hated not being there, but DamNation ran smoothly without me.  I do believe I missed them more than they missed me!  Interesting that my legend lives on without me... perhaps it will last longer if I stay away!

                              My best to your wife!
