I think I will be running a 10 mile race in NZ. Hope the weather is better than it was for our Feb. race in Scotland! Here's my trivia: Literacy Rate - Equal first, at 99.9% Beer consumption - 16th highest, at 77.0 litres per capita This means that beer makes people smart, right...? I think I will run through Middle Earth...I hope I see Aragorn... *swoons* Wink k

I'm planning on doing a 10K in Mordor so this is perfect. Actually it is the Irish Classic 10K here in Louisville at the E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park. But I will imagine that I have the Ringwraiths on my tail the whole time.

I think I will imagine them chasing me when I do my 10 miler. Maybe I will have a VR PR, then! Big grin k

Put me down for the 10k again - i might break last month's course record if the weather's kind Wink I'll be running my arse off imagining this lot bearing down on me, New Zealand's world renowned "All Blacks" national rugby union team performing the traditional "haka": Just about the most frightening sports team on the planet !!

I'll be running my arse off imagining this lot bearing down on me, New Zealand's world renowned "All Blacks" national rugby union team performing the traditional "haka":
I heard that the "All Blacks" got into some trouble for dancing the "haka." Some thin-skinned prudes somewhere got offended that at some point in the dance they make a gesture like slitting a throat. [I don't know. I've never seen the fearsome haka.] But have these sissies never heard of rugby? We had a rugby team in college and I knew a few ruggers, and if throat slitting gestures was all the general populace had to endure from them, especially if they'd been drinking, then we were getting off lucky. Rugby's a brutal sport played by tough, tough people. [Stereotypes hurt everyone... I'm sure there are some sissy-boy rugby players somewhere.]

I always watch to see how other nation's teams respond to the haka. The English just used to huddle round in their half of the pitch and ignore them which looked daft. The most spine tingling moment i ever saw though was about 10/15 years ago when the Scottish national team lined up after the singing of Flower of Scotland, and started moving towards them in a wedge formation quietly chanting some slogan amongst themselves. The captains were almost nose-to-nose at one point (all in good sporting gesture). Apparently no-one had ever done that and it put the All Blacks off key. I can't remember the score....but i would imagine that the All Blacks weren't off key for very long. Wink

                            Go Pre!

I am in..in for the HM - I am at that distance in my Marathon training anyway so I may try to beat my PR...yes....even though long and slow is the way to go for long run training. I guess I will sign up for the 10K too. Dadz
