Hey, gang! We've got a whole bunch of new people, so I thought I'd just post a review of what's going on here. If I forget something, feel free to chime in! We're from around the world here on RA, and most of us never get a chance to meet each other, much less race against each other in real life. The Virtual races are designed to give us a chance to race against other members of RunningAHEAD. The Virtual races are built entirely around the honor system, and aim to be as inclusive as possible. The first full weekend of every month is designated "race weekend." Ideally, this would be the weekend where you would find a local race and run in it. If there are no races available to you that weekend, feel free to mark out your own course in one of the standard distances, run it, and submit that time instead. If for some reason you cannot race on "race weekend," it's okay to submit a time from a race you ran within the last month. Marathoners especially are encouraged to sumbit times from within the past month, as we don't expect you to go out and race an extra 26.2 miles just to submit a time from "race weekend"... How do you submit a time? During race weekend submit your race times here!
What if that doesn't work? For reasons unknown to me, every once in a while people get error messages when attempting to submit times with the form. If this happens to you or for some reason you think I didn't get your time, feel free to email me directly at yanelh@hotmail.com. Be sure to include your screen name, race distance, time, if this was a PR, and anything you would want in the brag box. I would rather you not post your results in the forum because it can get quite cluttered and hard to follow, especially with more racers participating. When are results up? Current race results will be available here shortly after the deadline What about past results? Past results from the Virtual Races are available at: http://www.geocities.com/yanelh/past_results.html. Course records are kept at: http://www.geocities.com/yanelh/course_records.html What is a Virtual Profile? In order to try to help build the sense of community, records of RA members who have participated in the virtual races or who are Virtual members are kept in the Profile Page in the Virtual forum. Runners' screen name, Virtual race history, and (if available on RA) first name and photo are displayed. Runners whose RA profiles do not contain a picture of them are shown with a generic koala and "I'm shy..." message. What do you mean, "Virutal Race is in Scotland this month?" In order to make things a little more interesting, we are pretending to race in different locations world-wide. January 2007 saw us racing up and down the steps of Mayan ruins. Febuary's destination is Scotland. Nominations for future race destinations are always welcome. A voluntary "race fee" of a picture of something from a "virtual" race destination is requested. To post a picture in the forums: You'll need the URL of the picture. There are several ways to do this. I right-click on a picture and select "properties." In the pop-up box is an URL. I copy this (and close the box) and paste it over to the message I am writing. Then I link it. Look at the boxes under Formatting: (the one you can use to make text bold, itialics, underligned, or strike-through). The picture-box with a globe and a chain is for linking to a webpage. The picture-box with mountains and a sun is for linking pictures. Click this one while the URL is highlighted in your message. If you have done everything correctly, your picture will show up in your message. Hope that clears some things up. Do you have more questions? Feel free to post them here. Smile Welcome to the Virtual Races! Janell

      Lazy idiot

Can we do a four miler and have it count as a virtual race??? I've got one tomorrow, but it's not one of the standard distances. If not, no big deal. I'll do it next month.

Is it possible to delete an entry? I have two in Feb, and it should be just one in Jan. Confused

Hi, Gloria! Dave (Daddyo) has been managing the VR entries... if he doesn't answer, I'll email him for ya. I see you have an entry in the 4 mile and two in the 15 K division, one without a time?

Wing, thanks. The 4 mile is correct. The 15K with no time should be deleted. The other 15K, was really a 12K 1:08 January 12th. Trying to do the one race a month challenge and needed to log it for the month. Thanks!

Fixed....will be adding a 'random' distance shorly....soooo busy 'round here these days Smile
Excuse me if this question has been asked (and answered) a gillion times, but is it possible to enter results from previous months for this year? I switched the tab to April and entered my result, but it still showed in May. Anyway, I deleted them out but my name still shows in the cumulative totals with nothing under it. Old man who is new around these parts
                  Age 60 plus best times: 5k 19:00, 10k 38:35, 10m 1:05:30, HM 1:24:09, 30k 2:04:33

Wow, how did i miss this post! Anyway, 6 months later, I have a solution. If you want to enter an past month race, just enter it as if it were new, then click on the time on the results page and you can edit your data there. Hope this helps. ciao ~D
