Fiesty Friday (Over 40) (Read 22 times)

Feeling a tad fiesty after a day off.

    Lisa

Always good advice and I imagine that I look this happy with no feet touching the ground when I run..

To those among us who have to deal with other people on a regular basis... as opposed to the self imposed hermits living in a cave with internet access.

And to those not on Facebook who might enjoy a bit of liquor mixed with their fruit...Chocolate covered strawberry shots. Vanilla vodka, Godiva liquor, and some chocolate syrup for a delicious shot in an edible glass.

and for those who don't want the liquor...dipped in yogurt and frozen.

And... for me who is withdrawal this week...

        Goodmorning,

Hungry this morning Lisa?  I will take one of those vodka shots and a frozen strawberry please.  Wish I could put the idiot sign on the reference desk, but somehow I do not think that would be acceptable.

Karen....good for you for taking a mental health day!  Hope you feel better.

        Damaris....have a great vacation!

Julie....we have been having the same sort of weather, snow squalls and sun.  It has to get better!

Marjorie...you do need to take rest days, hope you enjoyed yours.

What is Pi day?  That is one I have not heard of.

Taking the day off from work today cause of the teeth.  Pretty sore this morning, and a little sick to my stomach, great for a diet though, can't open my mouth wide enough to eat.

I am hoping to be able to run this weekend sometime...I need to take those new shoes out!  I forgot to ask the dentist if running was taboo and if it is for how long, being the ex-hygienist I know how you can mess yourself up.  Darn, I was doing so good too, right now 2 days off seems like forever and a few months ago I didn't even mind taking days off at a time.

Since I will be lazy all day, I will be back....

          Good morning all!

Strength day yesterday, core day with Core Meister today.   I love that my shoulders and arms are starting to look well defined again, after being a bit soft this winter.  And, I'm finding that my calf muscles are more defined than ever, with the running I'm doing.

Today is a hard day.   My Mom passed away four years ago today.   She had leukemia (AML) and fell as she was taking the garbage can out to the curb one night.  She bumped her head, which, with her low blood counts,  caused a bleed on her brain.  The next week was one of the most terrible weeks of my life.  She was an amazing woman who sacrificed so much so that I could have the life I have today.  Her name is Mavis; a true southern belle, collector of all things Peacock, and poet.  I miss her.

Lisa - you are just "Girls Gone Wild" all by yourself today, huh?

LC - LOL - Bed magnet.

Cindy - The Covered Bridge Run sounds marvelous.  That's a busy race weekend, and I've already signed up for race on Saturday and Sunday... lol.  Guess I really have the bug.

Karen - Yay for you, taking a mental health day.   We all need them occasionally!

Camille - haha with the Garmin.  I did just the opposite yesterday.  Someone interrupted my workout, so I paused the Garmin.... then forgot to start it again.  I knew something was amiss when it kept telling me that I had only burned 9 calories in an hour.

Ginny - glad the wisdom teeth removal wasn't too traumatic.  I hope you wake up looking like a chipmunk today.  I looked like one for three days... LOL.

Damaris - Play on... have a great time.

          Be well,

          Julie

            Good Morning Smile

4 on TM for me.  Managed 3.1 last night and am planning on another 2-3 after work.

Lisa - oh wow, those desserts look good!  That dog picture reminds me of my dog when he runs back in the house from the yard, cracks me up every day!

Ginny - hang in there, hope you are feeling better by the weekend!

Julie - thinking of you today, you know you mom is so proud of you and all you've accomplished <3

Just another day of work, followed by taxi cab duty for everyone ha ha

TGIF!!  Allergies!!!  I have not run in two weeks.  Gotta do something tonight.  May try the pool.   Still sneezy and coughing.  The pollen is so thick on my windshield I will have to go to the car wash.  Wiper blades are useless.

But on the bright side I decided to resort to counting calories and using a food diary again.  Back to my normal weight today!!!!  Thank God!  I was really getting worried.  I just need to watch the portions and snacks.  Got out of control over the holidays and have really struggled to get my act back together.  My clothes were getting tight.  Was time to take control again.

Ginny--Hope you are feeling better today.  Maybe take it easy for a day or two so you don't disrupt the healing process?

Lisa--enough with the food porn!!  Wink

Run to live; live to run

15.7 miles. I found $20 on the side of the road. So it was a really great run. Lisa love the pic. Ginny Pi day ks 3/14 (or 3.14 Pi). I'll be back for more in a bit.

                Tessa

Hey, everybody, drinks are on Marjorie and dessert is on Lisa! Yum.

Ginny, as Marjorie explained, Pi Day is 3/14, because of pi being 3.14 (some people take it to the hour, minute, and second, but I think that's overkill). DS's middle school used to have Pi Night which was math workshops with pie as the refreshment.

I hope your teeth feel better soon.

Laura, bummer about the hard drive, hope it can be fixed. Kids.

Lisa, hungry much? Those strawberry shots look decadent. Let's see, I have a recipe for "chocolate mousse" made with cocoa powder and silken tofu...um...NO.  However, there are only 16 days left of Lent!

Got a message from Docket_Rocket and hope to meet her this evening, which will work out perfectly since I'm heading for the expo after work. So glad they moved it back to the convention center.

Julie, I am sorry for the loss of your mom.

Um, 9 calories burned in an hour? Only if you're a goldfish or something of similar size. I think Judy's hamster would burn more calories!

Karen, good for you for taking a mental health day. You could call it a work related illness -- your boss is driving you crazy!

Susan, ugh on the pollen, but congratulations on being back to your normal weight! I imagine business travel doesn't help either.

Marjorie, congratulations on finding $20, finding money is always nice and finding folding money is even better. And on the 15 something!

No run this morning because I fetched my sister from the airport and her flight came in at 5:15 AM. I will go to the gym at lunch.

                  Happy runs!

Run to live; live to run

Lisa those are interesting treats that you posted.  I'm on a no sugar thing still and have been doing very very well so none for me on some of those.

Ginny so sorry on the teeth still being an issue.  I did enjoy the rest day with no exercise other than the long walks at the airport to get to gates.

Julie good for you with Core meister.  I have pilates later today so my core will get a work out too.  Sorry on your mom.  The anniversary of your mom is a hard one.  I live it every year in October when it comes to when my mom died.  I'm with Tessa 9 is really low.  Heck your basal metabolic rate is probably going to burn more than 9 just sitting still.

Laura  did you get more snow?  Dad was saying that there was a possibility of snow today.

Sue congrats on getting the weight back under control.

Tessa.  haha yes drinks on me but 20 won't buy us much will it?  I think this year to date I've found $22.  Not bad......

Marjorie - no snow yet, but we are supposed to get some tonight and then Monday, oy vey

Hi Tessa, Sue and all to follow!

                      Bikerchick1

LisaMMR - Yum on the food pictures!!!  Are the black and white cookies sugar cookies with white and chocolate frosting?

Ginny - Hope the healing is going good.  When I had a tooth pulled last year I think the dentist wouldn't let me run for a week...Shocked....I hadn't even considered that I wouldn't be able to....so be careful if you do..

Julie - What wonderful words about your mother.....

Crazysue - Great job on getting back to your weight!!!  Sorry on the allergies - hope you feel better soon.

                        Tessa/Damarias - Have a great FE/run!

LCruns - I really, really, really, do not want this next round of snow we are supposed to get......Is your race tomorrow?

Marjorie - How  long have you avoided sugar - what kind of change have you seen?

Funny Garmin story - Went out for my run last night, looked down at garmin about 800 yards in to run and HR was 180's...WTH....so I slowed down, it dropped a little, started back it jumped to 190's....now I'm freaking out, I started checking my pulse...I knew it wasn't that fast, so tried adjusting the strap, etc., etc., started back up now it's 200's, 220's......ok, I KNOW it isn't this high, figured it was doubling my rate.  Finally I had worked up a sweat - figured the sensor just wasn't moistened enough, and it started picking up the correct rate.  Whew, it did scare me at first...

Run to live; live to run

Carol, I haven't done sugar since August.  I have no craving for sugar and actually I lost a few pounds not doing any sugar.  Sugar contributes to my stomach issues so that has helped with everything.

3 after work miles. Had another frustrating day at work so I was 'running angry' lol.  I feel better now, and glad it's Friday!

Carol - I know, I dread the snow.  Race is Sunday, supposed to be dry and sunny.  Kind of cold but that doesn't bother me. Have fun at St. Pats :-)

Marjorie - great job on the no sugar.  I try not to eat sweets but don't think I could completely give up the white stuff.

Ugh Julie  I do look like a chipmunk!  I have been icing, but I guess that just slows the swelling, I would probably look like a hamster without the ice!  i really don't have that much pain unless I move around a lot.  I am also getting another cancer sore, my third in just a couple of months, I feel I may never eat  again.   Sorry about your mom, I go through the same thing in January and my mom has been gone 12 years now.

We are supposed to get some of that rotten snow tonight too...1-3 inches...So tired of it!

Sue...sorry about the allergies, not fun.  Great on your weight loss though.

Marjorie....good find on the $20!  Cool.

Tessa...thanks for the explanation of Pi day, I should have figured that out myself!  Have fun with Docket tonight!

Carol... a week????  Darn, I forgot to call today to find out about how long to wait, although, to tell the truth, I don't feel much like running today.  Better safe than sorry, as the saying goes.

Laura, first you complain about the snow, then you say you couldn't give up the white stuff...make up your mind! Wink

Marjorie, I don't know, at $1.39 apiece we could get plenty of Big Gulps.

I believe black & white cookies are chocolate on one half and white on the other.

Met up with Damaris and Mr. Damaris earlier this evening at the expo. Chat was fun, expo was disappointing. They have lost a lot of the vendors they used to have. But packet pickup looked very smooth. It was good to meet D_R!

Will go for a long run tomorrow morning.
