    Mighty Mouse

It is so hard to get up on these dark mornings. Sleepy

Tuesday the weather was so lovely with a trace of a cool breeze so I laced up right after work and went to run 45 minutes in the park. A creepy person in a pickup truck followed me several weeks ago, but I was able to avoid him. I got his license number as I drove by where he tends to park . After the run I did 20 minutes of cardio DVD at home.

Today I may go to the park as well. The weather looks really good. I love running outside in the fall time of year.

      Happy runs, All! :::HUGS:::

      LC Runs

Good Morning!  Been a while since I posted.  Took a long weekend off, helped DD with Homecoming prep on Saturday afternoon, then drove to my mom's that evening.  Ran the Sleeping Bear Half Marathon on Sunday, pouring rain, humid, windy lol.  Ended up with a 1:59:XX  which is about 5 minutes slower than I ran it last year but given the conditions, I was happy with it.  Stayed at my Mom's through Monday afternoon, got a wonderful massage in the morning!

Tuesday ran 3.5 in the morning.  Today, managed 4.5 with a running buddy.

Started my new job yesterday - so far, so good.  Of course, there is a lot to learn so my head will be spinning for awhile.  But the atmosphere is really nice and the women there are all friendly.  There are 5 teams consisting of one RN and one Social Worker, plus the supervisor and intake person.  Ironically, the intake specialist is the mom of the guy that took my position at CMH, so I will be keeping my mouth shut about how awful the place is.  He's worked there for several years in a direct care position but this is a whole new ball game.

Judy - I agree, I so miss the long days of summer *sigh*

Karen - are you getting ready for your new job??? Smile

Good Morning!  Group Power class this morning.  I am just kinda  dragging this morning.

          Have a great day everyone!

Very hard to get up in the dark again and pretty cool this morning also.  Ran 3 miles, which were much better than the miles I ran on Sunday.  A lot of stars this morning, I usually can't see them that well being in town, but this morning they were very clear....nice.

Judy...agree that Fall is a wonderful time of year to go running.

LC...good job on the Half!  Very speedy

Sue....hope you perk up as the day goes on.

              Hi ladies-

Attempted my first real run since last Wednesday, when my shins started to give me trouble, but it was a FAIL. Shins still sore. I probably could have kept on and they would have been ok, but I'm far enough out from my goal race that I think it's better to take the time and try to get them under control. So I went to the Y and rode the elliptical for 42 minutes (I couldn't take it any longer!) and will do the same tomorrow. I also need new shoes - went to get them yesterday, but Fleet Feet didn't have my size. I'm hoping they come in by the end of the week.

Tessa - hugs to you and to DS. I don't know what else to say, except that I'm thinking of you,

Lisa - I think you made the right decision to not try to walk the race. Plus, a rope AND a radio! How official!

Damaris - taper and furlough at the same time! Don't go shopping. Wink

Karen - good luck this weekend! When do you head out? My sisters both live in Albany; I should have used it as an excuse to go visit them and cheer you on! Sunday is DS2's birthday, though; I don't think he would have appreciated having mom gone on his birthday.

Judy - I too love running in the fall.

Laura - I hope the new job continues to go well.

Ginny - we were at my MIL's over the weekend, and she lives out in the country, so there is no light pollution. The boys are always amazed at how many stars you can see.

Off to do something productive, although I'm very unmotivated. Have a great day-

              Cindy

I am the Master of Procrastination! I have 7 miles with 2 at MP on the schedule, and so far today I have slept until 9 and then messed around on the internet while drinking coffee for two hours. Rain is supposed to hit this afternoon so I really should get out there. Yesterday I finished painting all the trim and the doors on the inside of the house. It looks so much better. It is also something I've been trying to get done since I got laid off in June. I guess I need deadlines! Probably an example of why I sign up for so many races too...

Laura, hope the new job continues to go well. I guess I am getting ready - I've been shopping for new clothes and shoes, and I've been sleeping in and enjoying this last week of unemployment.

Judy, nice workouts from you as always.

                Morning Susan!

Glad today's run went better Ginny.

Cindy, that stinks on the shins. Good that you have time to heal up right. I'm excited about this weekend. I am just driving up Saturday morning and back Sunday afternoon. I am toying with the idea of going up Friday so I'm not sitting in the car for 5.5 hours the day before the marathon, but I will probably stick with Saturday.

                Okay, must go running.

                Tessa

Judy, you do seem to attract the nutcases. Sorry.

Laura, glad you are enjoying the new job. I know you don't want to post identifying information that can be Googled, however, would I be right in surmising that this may be the same type of organization that DH and I are involved in from the consumer side?

Susan, sounds as if you're dragging too.

Ginny, lots of stars since the moon is new, no moonlight washing out the fainter stars.

Cindy, sorry the shins are still hurty. Will the store have the new shoes in your size soon?

Lisa, I can picture you being a start line official. Have fun!

Karen, you officially start the new job on Monday? Will there be any problem with getting off for various races?

It was hard to get up this morning. So I didn't. Slept an extra hour with a cuddly Fernanda snuggled up and purring away. Amazing how much more affectionate the cats get as the weather cools down. (Nanda's mama didn't raise no fool!)

So there will be no run today unless the lunch meeting is cancelled. Oh well.

Long day yesterday. Nurse came. DH is looking a bit better, he seems to be doing better without any meds than he was with all the pills they prescribed for him when he was discharged from hospital. Go figure. Social worker came. Little I didn't already know except we are eligible for a small credit on the utility bill. No help available with day to day caring. Bath nurse came. After fussing for days about wanting a shower, DH refused to have one. So she gave him a bed bath instead, over his protests.  Then he was pissed because I helped rather than allowing him to refuse. No way, mate. I have to smell you. The nice lady drove out to our house to give you a bath and a bath you shall have.

                  Then class.

Work is actually a respite. Except I have a note saying I have taken the maximum allotted family sick time, have to code one day last week as something else. I guess I code it as my sick time.

Run to live; live to run

Ginny it was cooler here. I actually wore a tech shirt for my run since it was 60 when I started.  The dark is hard too

Cindy sorry on the shins. The course I'm doing says shin splints in runners is usually a hip imbalance or shoes. Core work is essential.

Tessa so sorry you can't get assistance.

What an awesome confidence-building run I had this morning. Started at about a 9:30 pace for the first mile and then gradually sped up until I ran the last three in 8:03, 8:06 and 8:05. Goal marathon pace is between 8:00 and 8:12. This run felt fantastic, especially after yesterday's easy run where my legs felt like lead blocks and I was barely below a 10 mm pace. I feel much better now. Nothing but easy runs the next three days.

After my run I went to run errands - Target, Home Depot and to pick up these from my friend:

                        glasses

Whoops, it's sideways, but you get the idea. My friend Tricia started painting wine glasses and beer steins on the side to make some extra money - she's a single mom of three boys, and somehow needs to get them through college. The friend I'm staying with for Mohawk Hudson lost her daughter a few years back to lymphoma and has since raised a bunch of money for Team in Training. She picks one event a year and last year it was a triathlon. So I got Tricia to make these for her as a thank you for letting me stay. They turned out great and I hope Judy likes them.

Tessa, I actually start next Tuesday. Monday is Columbus Day and they actually get that day off from work. I don't think I've ever worked anywhere that got that day off before! I'm sorry you're still dealing with so much crap with your DH.

Hi Marjorie, isn't the cooler weather great? I agree with your class that shoes can be a cause of shin splints - if I try to wear my shoes longer than normal I start to feel it in my shins. That's when I know for sure it's time to open up a new box of running shoes and retire those to everyday shoes.

Tessa - the shoes I wear, Brooks Ravennas, are pretty popular, so they're expecting a shipment by the end of the week.

Marjorie - oh, I definitely have a hip imbalance - the size of my hips is way out of balance with the rest of my body! Big grin Seriously, thanks for the info - it gives me something to think about.

Karen - yay for the good run!

Ginny - sorry about the loony bin. Sometimes I feel like I live in one.

Well, I had worked out a great plan for getting in some exercise tomorrow - which is probably going to go right out the window, since DS3 seems to be sick. Poor little guy.

Survived Day #2 Smile  I am kind of swimming with all of this new information, forms, computer programs, etc but that seems to be the norm.  Tomorrow I am on the road with the RN and my Supervisor, who will be doing the SW stuff with me.  She is super sweet and I like my nurse partner, a little rough around the edges but very organized.  I think we'll be a good team.

Tessa - I'm actually working for another service agency, not home health.  It's the Area of Aging chapter and we do contract with a several home health agencies (among others) to provide in home services for people who qualify for Medicaid and would otherwise need nursing home care.

Karen - cool glass.  Enjoy the week :-)

                                Hi all!

PT today with 30 on treadmill at 50-55-57% body weight. Then they had me walk a bit later on regular TM sans shoes to see my gait had me job for a few seconds. Weirdest feeling to be shoeless and heavy. Run guy who does the clinics said neutrals are fine but that I do probate slightly in right foot and that it turns out a tad. Could be injury related or cause off. Too soon to make that determination. They want hips stronger First.

Ginny-bet hubby will like visiting there with you!

Cindy- smart girl to pull plug on shin splints. I also get a special shirt with SLO on it. Have to turn in to get volunteer shirt when done.  I have hip imbalance too.

Tessa- bed bath beats hose so glad you went with the bath and help. Boo on the time off being used up.
