Thanks for Tuesday (Over 40) (Read 21 times)

I mean, why is Thursday the only "T" day that usually gets all of the thanks?  At least it's not Monday, right?

Susan-boy, I've been in some boring meetings but a meeting with a chair, even a department one must be a bit one sided.  At least if it were a coffee table there would be some caffeine to keep things going. LOL

Damaris-Asthma must really suck.  Working on her own has her missing professional type of networking.  She's active socially but that doesn't give her work related ideas and sitting in a coffee shop doesn't help since she has to be working then.  When she was here in Detroit she was close to doing some "pop up" restaurant type of work with a couple of others but she realizes that there isn't really the market in Miami for that.  Detroit really is an entrepreneurial incubator and a bit on a frenzy of supporting/trying new things.  Not the same market there.  Plus the account she manages is fairly limiting for her.  You probably know way better than me how regulated casinos are. And hers aren't especially high class/nice ones.  LOL  Still she is loving it. Been busy training her boyfriend's 9 month old Boxer.  She has been appreciative of having a 85 pound dog with her at times.

Off to run on -yuck- roads around my house. Have a good day ladies!

Lisa - Hope you enjoy your (yuck) road run this AM.

I am thankful it is NOT Monday.  Bad computer day at work yesterday.....gotta love electronic medical records...especially when the ENTIRE system goes down...

Went to stability ball class.  Hoping to get out in time to do my neighborhood run today.

Good Morning - 3 TM for me.  Will plan on a short after-work run, as well.

Lisa - Yes, very glad it is NOT Monday

Hi Carol - ugh on the computer issues, we got a new computer program at work this summer, it stinks.  It's either not working or in need of updates constantly.  Blech.  Stability ball class sounds fun!

Monday I did my usual 35 minutes on the track, then walked with coach for about a half mile. I did my cardio dvd for 25 minutes when I got home. I’ve been using some of the fastest segments.

Today will be a track run and more cardio…a different DVD for a change. I'm off to get dental cleaning. Sleeping in felt good.

          Happy runs, All! :::HUGS:::

          Where is the "any" key?

Checking in from work in a ghost town, er, DC on a federal holiday. The commute was awfully easy with hardly anyone else doing it, but holy crap, a lot of people work for the federal government! There is some huge free concert going on tonight on the Mall, so I just put on the work calendar that I'm leaving early to get the heck out of dodge. An added bonus is that I will be able to run while it's still light out. Probably around 5 miles.

Lisa, that must be challenging for your DD. I worry about the same thing when I move, but will at least have my once a month trips back for networking - I plan on scheduling them the same times as the Certification Network Group meetings, for example. So much of both my industry and my part in the industry are DC based.

I am also thankful that it's not Monday. Does anyone here get the day off, or is that just almost everyone in Washington? Geez, I didn't bring my lunch today, I hope the restaurants are open!

Morning!  Off from work so Pilates in a few and a run tonight.

Lisa, yes, Miami is not an entrepreneur meccha and, if there are some new businesses popping up, they live it for their friends in their respective communities.  For example, Cubans are very pro Cubans and would hire a Cuban to create their business than someone else.  Having said that, has she hung around the designer district?  I know a lot of new stuff is started and is going on there, so maybe meeting people from there might help?

Carol, ugh at the system going down.  Sorry.

LC Runs, nice 3.  I am also very glad it is not Monday.  Shudder.

Judy, nice job on the workouts.

Karen, I can imagine there is hardly anyone around.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

Count me among the federal employees who are not working today, for which I am thankful.  Since we're being thankful today, I'll also say thanks to all the veterans out there for their service.   Also thankful that my DH is home this week, and we are going for a run soon.  Then some chores and shopping, which didn't get done over the weekend.

Lisa, is yucky weather making the roads yucky?  I heard about the latest polar vortex.

Carol, electronic ANYTHING is a great idea until the system goes down.  Hope today is better.

Hi LC.  Enjoy the TM, if possible.

Hi Judy.  Nice workout as always.

Karen, at least commuting should be easier if no one else is working.  Hope you found somewhere open for lunch.

Hi Damaris.  Saw that you did a HM on Sunday... how's the asthma now?

Good morning, I didn't get to the golf course but did 45", again avoiding the huge hills.  Wimpy lately.

I got the decks pressure washed yesterday. It had been done professionally in the spring but between the delay in getting HOA approval and needing a few dry days in a row, the touch up painting did get done  in the spring and I'm starting that this afternoon.  The professional guys'  cleaning left way more bare spots than I expected so I don't know if I'll finish today.

Shadow, it's funny that you mentioned irunfar.com  I don't usu read it, but   a couple weeks ago, my old running club sent the link for a great article on Matias Saari.  http://www.irunfar.com/2014/10/an-alaskan-mountain-runner-exposed-matias-saari.html   He was a sports writer in Fairbanks when I lived there,  has won the Equinox  and loves it as only Fairbanks folks can.  This year, I saw him place at Mt Marathon ahead of the pro runner, Rickey  Gates (4th).  The article also pointed out how great the mountain runners there compared to pros and I'd wondered about that.

For the rest of you, the link is worth checking out for the pic of Eric on the Equinox Trail.  : )  I tried to post a pic of him from Mt Marathon last year.  It's only the scenery we're admiring, right?

                    Hi ladies-

I'm jumping in to post even though I haven't had a chance to read the thread yet. No run for me today - the boys are out of school for Veterans Day, and DH is off work, so we're going to go out for a little hike after lunch. The weather is beautiful, and we want to take advantage of it since a cold front is supposed to hit on Thursday.

My marathon is Saturday! I'm both excited and nervous. My Garmin chose now to die on me - my RB suggested that perhaps God was speaking to me - but I dug out the old one and charged it, and it seems to be working fine. I'm trying to decide what to wear - it's supposed to be 30* at the start. I'm thinking capri tights, SS shirt, and LS throwaway shirt over that. Gloves and headband. Any advice/suggestions are appreciated.

Gotta go - I need to return a couple of work emails before lunch. Have a great day-

                    Cindy

Cindy-on the throwaway.. wear a zip up type of coat so that you can have your bib easily showing. Do you have arm warmers?  I like those.

Lisa, what was the hilarious auto correct you wrote about once?  Your boss wrote it, I think?

HR director replied to a publisher regarding candidates that had been referred for a position.  "We will be screening all candidates." With screening being changed to screwing.  Publisher thanked us for our thoroughness but that wouldn't be necessary.

I like when definitely is changed to defiantly in emails.

                            Hobby Jogger Especial!

Good morning. Had a great 5k Veterans Run yesterday with my DH and running buddy.  DH did well, but did take a couple of walk breaks. He's doing the Couch to 5k right now so this was pushing it for him. It was chilly, even though the race was at 3:30 p.m. Still, a nice run on the Boise greenbelt. Abs/core and leg workout this morning. Glad it wasn't a running day as it was 11f when I left for work! Gotta dash. Have a great day!
