Why do I run: I run for the sense of accomplishment it gives me. I run because it feels good. I run to de-stress or to shake off a bad mood. It's impossible for me to start a run worried about something and still be thinking about it (or even caring) when I finish. I run because I love the outdoors. And, of course, I run so I can eat more chocolate. |
Why I started running: I started running to support my sister, who lives in Seattle and had just lost 65 lbs over the past 8 months. She had committed to running a 5K over the summer as part of her fitness regime and was just starting out as a brand-new runner when I came to visit her in April. I decided to train with her (albeit in a different state), then fly up again in July and run the race with her. We kept in close touch by phone as our running progressed, and when the day came, we crossed the finish line hand in hand. I couldn't be more proud of her. And on a side note, it turned out that I loved running. Who knew? I still thank her every time I talk with her. |
