Notes

:)

Winter Solstice run. Only planned to do half, but when I got to Riverview Park, with my feet soaking wet from the river-cross, Derek and I decided, what the hell. We lined up for the picture that Sophie took of the "full enchilada" group, topped up our water, and headed out -- only 8 more miles we thought.

The first 4 miles were challenging. Up/down. Lots of roots. I tripped on the way up a climb and fell into a giant boulder. If my hands hadn't braced me in time I would have smashed my knee into it like a groin shot. As it was I just go knee-knock and a lot of blood on my knee. Kept running through it because I was chasing the lead rabbit and had blokes behind me. The pace was hot -- as most of them, including the rabbit, were only doing 6-8miles.

Derek and I lost the leaders at two points and had to scout to find the trail again. Fortunately, everyone was behind us so we just needed to wait for another pack. We also stopped at Hardes for an OJ.

The river cross by the Mill was a surprise. Shin deep.

Most of all, it was great to know I have the fitness to just run 20miles of trails without training or preparation. Nice Winter Solstice tradition.
