Keene

Notes

Back at Keene. Last time this run was horrible due to a variety of causes. This time I was able to eliminate all but one: I only got 6hrs sleep. But I didn't:

1) Run on Friday

2) kill-it on Wednesday

3) short-change sleep the rest of the week

4) eat spicy food the night before

5) try to keep up with the sub-3s

6) It was also about 20F cooler than last time

I ran 7:55 pace most of this hilly run. Last 5 miles I tried it bring it down to 7:20, but only got to 7:30 except for the very last mile. I also didn't stop for water until absolutely necessary (except that last one). So I was leap-frogging the sub-3s when they stopped. I wanted to simulate more of a marathon than a 90sec rest every 3.5 miles would. Still, the second water-stop wasn't really necessary. I wanted extra water for when I finished and water to pour on my head. And I wanted the rest. But since I was in the middle of trying to keep MP, I gave-in.

Felt good after the run. Last time at Keene I was completely spent. This time I came home and did yard-work and am only mildly tired. Longer runs during the week might be helping (rather than doubles). Also, running at night (and thus, not having to get up early every morning is helping me feel more rested).

All in all, very pleased with my run.
