About me: I started running when I turned 40. I gave up cigarettes and started to be healthy. I ran my first 5K race about three years later. Since then I have run 7 marathons and multiple half-marathons, 20K, 10-miler, 10K, 8K and 5K races. I now run all year round, and want to run the current year in kilometers (e.g, 2007 - 1247 miles). |
Why do I run: I run because it's healthy, allows me to eat just about anything I want to and not gain weight (which has never been a problem, actually, but it's nice to not feel guilty). I also find it's a great way to mentally unwind, and when I travel, a good way to "sight see." |
Why I started running: After I gave up smoking and other unhealthy behaviors, I won a health club membership. I started working out and running at the same time. I came to the conclusion that the two were working against each other, and running was the more enjoyable of the two. |
