Frederick County's most scenic 5K in the fall foliage and crisp air. 


5K. Rolling, paved course punctuated by a steep incline at the 2-mile mark.  Not a PR course, but a PR for scenery.  Orange and black technical t-shirt in the spirit of the season  (note: shirts NOT guaranteed for registrations made after October 18).  Race Start 9 am.


Fun Run/Walk.  1.4-mile paved stroll well-suited for walkers and families. Start 9:02 am.


Tot Trot.  Free for children age 6 and under. 8:50 am.


Fees:  5K: $35 until October 26.     $40 at packet pick up or race day.

Fun Run/Walk: $10. 


Late registration and packet pick-up: 

If the Shoe Fits, 467 W Patrick St, Frederick, MD   Sat. October 29.  Noon - 4 pm.

Race day morning at the event , Sun. October 30, 8:00 - 8:50 am. 


The event meets at the large parking lot in the Cunningham Falls Park William Houck Area.   

Lat/long: 39.6267, -77.4632  It does NOT meet at the park HQ building (14039 Catoctin Hollow Rd. )which is on the other side of the lake.  DIRECTIONS:  From US 15 in Thurmont, take MD 77 west 3 miles.  Turn left on to Catoctin Hollow Rd.  Proceed 1 mile and turn right on to William Houck Lane.  After the entrance station, turn right and find the large parking area.


All proceeds benefit the Friends of Cunningham Falls and Gambrill State Parks (  Currently, we are working with a contractor to save an important Frederick County cultural resource, the Ironmaster's House, which is adjacent to the Catoctin Iron Furnace.  Help us save the Ironmaster's house! 


The Friends provide supplemental support to your Frederick County state parks, including hosting the Maple Syrup Festival each March.  We work with the park manager to provide necessary supplies and address funding constraints.  All-volunteer, the Friends are Combined Federal Campaign charity #93047.
