>General Running>ed whitlock - dead @ 86
Team 9 from Outer Space
He ran sub-4 last year. Really an amazing ambassador for Canada and for our sport.
"Don't feel like running today...suck it up and run ...you're an athlete." (John Stanton, founder & owner of The Running Room)
Three half marathons later, I got a number. Half Fanatic #9292. :)
A great example to any runner.
Surely, most of us are not - will not be - able to come even close to his record-beating performances, after he (re)started running in his early 40's -- and until 85 years-old.
But the persistence and dedication, those we can try to replicate. And we certainly should.
Dude ran a 2:54 at 73 years old.
I say things. I do things. Does it all have to make sense?
Last May I was feeling good about my 1:57 Half (PR) at 58 yrs old until I read about Ed running a 1:50 Half at 85 on the exact same day! This man was an incredible runner and quite humble as well considering he held many many World Records in running.
