Great job, cb.  You did it with flying colors, too.

Congratulations. I guess you must feel good to have that big BQ.

Congrats, especially given that it got a little warm toward the end.

I have a question.  I was a bit behind you... at your pace, did you have trouble with the half marathon merge at M22 and beyond?  In the 3:45 zone, it was wall-to-wall half marathon walkers for the last 3 1/2 miles.  The last time I ran AF was 2007, and I don't remember it... but then again, I was a wee bit faster that year.

Yes, I was having trouble with leg cramps from mile 21 on. Having to dodge the 1/2 walkers with dodgy legs was not fun. It was a real pain having this huge mass of wall to wall walkers in my path. It is a bad setup to merge those folks in like that.

Congrats!  That's quite a time drop.  Did you do something dramatically different?

Just lots more miles (up to 82 in biggest week) in my second ever marathon training cycle. So much better prepared with many more 18-22 mile long runs. I've only been running about 2 years, so my body is still making large adaptions.

Cheeseburger - Congratulations!  Great time improvement.  I started a thread on marathon training pace and I cited your BQ race as my goal for improvement.  I'm going to try and add the mileage, as you have done, for a Spring marathon where I hope to get my PR from 3:30 and change into the 3:20 range.  Thanks for the inspiration!
