So, sooner or later I'm going to get myself a new pair of shoes.
I've currently got a pair of Brooks Ghost 10 shoes.
I'm happy with these, but think they were a bit expensive.
I'm around 112 kilos and 183 (6'0). I don't plan on running very long distances, my goal is triathlons. I do a lot of strength exercises, body weight and iron. But for that I use a different pair of shoes.
I don't have any excessive pronation etc.
Any suggestions on perhaps similar but cheaper shoes?

Brooks fans like the Ravenna. Check for online clearance prices on last year's model, you might find a pair for $25-30.

Morphex, shoes can be expensive, but also consider how long you are going to wear them. I bought a pair on sale for $90 earlier this year and, based on current mileage, they've cost me about 19 cents a mile. The majority of my retired shoes on my log were under 25 cents per mile by the time I retired them and that's even when I spend $135-$140 on them.

Well I've mostly gone low price on shoes before, with varying results.
Shoes are expensive here in Norway as well, and I do go to outlets etc. looking for good deals.
These Brooks I have now are comfortable, but maybe they don't let enough air through.
I was hoping to get ahead of the demise of these shoes and get a cheaper pair.
When I think about it, the main difference between these shoes and others I've used, is the padding in the heel region of the shoe.
So I'm thinking if I get shoes that are well padded in the back, and has OK/good cushioning in the heel (because of my weight), I'm good.
As for the price per mile, I agree. Clothes are changed, washed and so on, which makes them seem last longer.

Morphex, you're pretty heavy for a runner at 112 kgs, and so chances are running shoes will have a shorter life for you.
I'll echo what others have said: sale shoes, for sure. That's different from cheap shoes, which I stay away from, personnally. I've tried a pair of two of cheaper models running shoes, and had bad experiences. It's not just about the brand, but about the models. For example, Adidas make excellent quality running shoes, but they also make cheap models.
So I like to go with models they sell in specialty running stores, but the previous year's edition. You'll often find those at 50% of the price, but only in the ugly colors they could not sell.
Also, trainers (as opposed to racers) tend to last longer.
Ok. Well, I found a pair of cheap Asics on sale. Felt comfortable and had good padding on the back of the heel.
Now I have a backup pair.
Was using my strength exercise shoes today, figured I could run a few kilometres at the end just to clock in some.
Yes, I am heavy. These last few months I have slimmed down significantly - but the weight remains the same. Will see how things go when I start with a larger amount of running distance.
As for cheap shoes with odd colours - good idea. I could care less if the shoes are good and cheap. 🙂
