Could a Garmin help you in a survival situation?? (Read 837 times)

I used my Garmin and a separate compass when I went hunting. I would set certain waypoints so I could get back to them if I got off track too much. Having a paper map is also nice so you know where certain landmarks and boundaries are. I have not done it but I’m sure you can load courses to the garmin. My folks have several stories about getting lost early in their marriage. One I recall, they went deep into the woods to some little lake where they went "swimming". They weren't really paying attention and without any flashlights they got stuck till the next morning.
