My 3 year old's first 5k. : ) (And my 6 year old's 4th) (Read 1561 times)

Treadmill Addict

My daughter who is 6 started running 5k's with me when she was 4. My son is 3 and he wanted to try it. It was freezing this morning, but warmed up with the running of course. It was the Cirque du Soleil 5k, lots of cirque people around in their cool costumes and makeup. (And the guy escorting my son through the finish line reminds me a bit of KISS. I'm not sure which Cirque show he was from. )

We all finished together in about 43 minutes, with a few short breaks on the stroller. I'm really proud of both of them. Smile

ETA- Those other random people in he slideshow pics are my sisters and their kids. Smile

Here is a link to a slideshow of it.

Or, if you don't want to watch a slideshow, here are a couple photos-

That's awesome! I hope my kid gets the itch to run with me when she gets older (she's 2). She already has a little scar on her cheek from falling while she was "Running fast like Mommy!" Wink

      I don't half-ass anything

"I have several close friends who have run marathons, a word that is actually derived from two Swahili words: mara, which means 'to die a horrible death' and thon, which means 'for a stupid T-shirt.' One day at a time

Thanks for posting the photos and video, Sarah!  That made my day.  Wow, three years old!  You should frame a picture of your kids - it will be priceless when they're older.

        Cool Jump Suit

Awesome Sarah!!  I find this very encouraging.....my two girls plan on their first 5k's this spring/summer.   I have a 7 and 5 yr. old.  I had been a little worried about them being too young, but not now!  Big grin

          So bittersweet,
          This tragedy
          Won't ask for absolution;
          This melody,
          Inside of me,
          Still searches for solution.
          A twist of faith,
          A change of heart
          Cures my infatuation.
          A broken heart,
          Provides the spark
          For my determination.
