Nicely done, Nathan, and congratulations.  Your pacing and strategy were perfect.  You have an even, and mostly downward, progression--perfect.  I can see a 6:59 for next year.  Keep training and enjoying running.  I see in your profile that you do not consider yourself a runner.  You are 200+ pounds and running near 7-flat.  You are a runner.

You have heart--and that is what truly defines a runner.

      Thanks for the comments everyone.

It felt good to make my goal.  It was tough at the end.

My beginner improvement curve is for sure slowing down, it will be interesting to see if I can knock another 5 seconds per mile off by next year.

One of my goals is running a half marathon at a 7:30 average pace.  Most of the calculators show that I'm pretty close to that based on this recent 10K.  I may need to find a fast course and try it this winter/spring.  I have a local half marathon coming up in November, but it is a really tough course and I don't think I have a 7:30 pace in me for it.
