Any computer program that computes the beats per minute of songs? (Read 712 times)

Terrier

I just began running in June and, until recently, have run without using an mp3 player.  I now have a sansa clip and have loaded a couple of albums on it, but find that the music tempo affects my running pace.  Slow songs seem to slow me down.  Is it just me?

Has anyone found a computer program that can calculate the beats per minute or tempo of songs so I can figure out what are good songs to load on the mp3 player that will match my running pace?

I've already figured out that I'm not going to use the mp3 player in races....

I know this isn't exactly what you asked, but this is custom music to a specific BPM.  A lot of songs vary quite a bit.

I bought the 180 from here for $5.  It's 30 minutes and it worked out great for me.  A good way to mix things up.

Full disclosure: I have nothing to do with this site, person, etc.

Here's a link to a set of songs that someone sped up to running speed, using a program called SoundForge:

On your deathbed, you won't wish that you'd spent more time at the office.  But you will wish that you'd spent more time running.  Because if you had, you wouldn't be on your deathbed.

You can also check out podrunner for mixes at numerous different bpm. All of the mixes are available for free on itunes.
