I looked up that bike and it was priced rather well in my opinion but it has been discontinued. One of my co-workers has a few road bike's but with mountain bike handle bars. I am going to see if he wants to sell one as he always complains about them taking up room in his garage. They are Treks so I could possibly upgrade the frame and nickle and dime myself into a style that I want.

It looks like they still sell the Disc Trucker, which is the same bike but with disc brakes. I am building up a Disc Trucker frame into an upright ebike using the Grin GMAC motor kit.  It is mostly done, but I have to solder all the wires.  Trek is a good brand, but of course they sell a range of quality in their bikes. The most important thing is to make sure that the frame fits you.  Maybe your co-worker would be tempted to get his bike out of the garage and go on a weekend ride with you.
